    DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0015] With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 8 thereof, a new cigar handle device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

[0016] As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 8, the cigar handle device 10 generally comprises a tab 12 and a screw 14. The tab 12 includes a top panel 16, a bottom panel 18, and a perimeter side wall 20 connecting the top panel 16 and the bottom panel 18. The screw 14 is attached to the tab 12. The screw 14 includes a shaft 22 that is positioned to project from the perimeter side wall 20. The screw 14 includes a pointed tip 24 that is designed to penetrate into a side wall of a cigar 60. The screw 14 includes threading 26 about the shaft 22 that is designed to retain the screw 14 in the cigar 60 to permit holding of the cigar 60 with the tab 12.

[0017] The screw 14 can have different designs. In one possible embodiment, the shaft 22 has a diameter equal to a thickness of the tab 12, which thickness could be the height of the perimeter side wall 20. The threading 26 has an outer diameter greater than the thickness of the tab 12. In another possible embodiment, the outer diameter is the same as or less than the thickness of the tab 12. The diameter of the shaft 22 of the screw 14 could be 0.125 to 0.25 inch, and the outer diameter of the threading 26 is 0.125 to 0.25 inch greater than the diameter of the shaft 22 of the screw 14. The screw 14 is 0.25 to 1.0 inch long. Most cigars have a diameter in the range of 0.25 to 1.0 inch, so the screw 14 can be of varied sizes that fit such cigar diameters.

[0018] The tab 12 can also have different designs, though the exemplary embodiment is relatively compact and suitable for holding between the thumb and one or two other fingers. The perimeter side wall 20 includes a front wall portion 28, a rear wall portion 30, and two lateral wall portions 32 connecting the front wall portion 28 and the rear wall portion 30. The screw 14 is attached at the front wall portion 28.

[0019] Each of the rear wall portion 30 and the lateral wall portions 32 is straight. The lateral wall portions 32 are parallel to one another and perpendicular to the rear wall portion 30. In the exemplary embodiment, the screw 14 is positioned to project perpendicular to the rear wall portion 30. However, in one possible embodiment, the screw 14 could be angled off of perpendicular with respect to the rear wall portion 30.

[0020] In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 1, the front wall portion 28 is curved, though in another possible embodiment the front wall portion 28 could be straight or angular. The cigar handle device 10 further includes curved corners 34, though in one possible embodiment the corners 34 could be angular, such as right angles. Each of the rear wall portion 30 and the lateral wall portions 32 has the same length, wherein the length is in the range of 0.5 to 1.0 inch. The embodiment in FIG. 1 therefore has a generally square shape. In another possible embodiment, the tab 12 could have a trapezoidal or triangular shape.

[0021] In the embodiment shown in FIG. 4, each of the lateral wall portions 32 is the same length and longer than the rear wall portion 30. The rear wall portion 30 has a length in the range of 0.5 to 1.0 inch, and each of the lateral wall portions 32 has a length in the range of 1.5 to 3.0 inches. This embodiment has a generally rectangular shape and also has curved corners 34.

[0022] As shown in FIGS. 6, 7, and 8, the cigar handle device 10 is used to hold a cigar 60 while smoking. A user grasps the tab 12 and places the pointed tip 24 at a side of the cigar 60 adjacent a butt end 62 of the cigar 60 to be placed in a mouth of a smoker. The user orients the screw 14 radially with respect to a longitudinal axis of the cigar 60. The user turns the tab 12 and thereby screws the screw 14 into the cigar 60. The user holds the cigar 60 with the cigar handle device 10 while smoking the cigar 60, which allows the user to smoke more of the cigar 60 than would normally be possible when holding the cigar 60 with the fingers of the user.

[0023] With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

[0024] Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word comprising is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article a does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
