[0021] The furniture arrangement 10 (FIGS. 1 and 8) may further include a back frame 12 having vertical frame members 21 and horizontal frame members 23 extending between the horizontal frame members 21. In the illustrated example, the back frame 12 is fixedly coupled to the arm assemblies 14A, 14B via brackets 25. The back frame 12 may be fixed to the arm assemblies 14A, 14B such that the back frame 12 remains static relative to the arm assemblies 14A, 14B as the furniture arrangement 10 is moved between the various modes or configurations as described below.

[0022] The furniture arrangement 10 may further include a seat member 22 (FIGS. 1, 5, 8) that includes a seat frame assembly 27 including longitudinal frame member 29 and lateral frame member 35. Removable cushions (not shown) may be placed on and supported by the seat frame assembly 27 when the seat member is in a first or seated position and the furniture assembly is in the seating configuration as shown in FIG. 1.

[0023] The furniture arrangement 10 may further include a link member 28 (FIGS. 3, 5 and 8) pivotably coupled with the support frame 16 at the first side 18 of the support frame 16 via a pair of hinge arrangements 39. In certain embodiments, the link member 28 may also be coupled with at least one of the arm assemblies 14A, 14B. The link member 28 is further pivotably coupled with the seat member 22 via a pair of hinge arrangements 41. When in the seating mode A (FIG. 1), the link member 28 is in a first position 30 thereof where the link member 28 is positioned vertically beneath the seat member 22 and vertically above the support frame 16 such that the link member 28 is located between the seat member 22 and the support frame 16.

[0024] The furniture arrangement 10 may include a connection arrangement 44 (FIGS. 3, 6 and 7) coupled with the support frame 16. The connection arrangement 44 may be coupled with at least one of the arm assemblies 14A, 14B. In the illustrated example, the connection arrangement 44 includes a pair of L-shaped lateral profile or connection members 50 each having a first end 46 and a second end 48 where the first ends are connected to one another via a cross member 56. The first end 46 of each of the connector members 50 are pivotably coupled to the first side 18 of the support frame 16 via a cross member 51. The connection arrangement 44 is shown in a retracted position in FIG. 1 and an extended position in FIG. 4, as further described below.

[0025] The furniture arrangement 10 may further include a support arrangement 53 (FIGS. 4, 6 and 7) that includes a rectangular support surface frame 55 and a support surface 34 coupled with the second end 48 of the connection arrangement 44. In the illustrated example, the support frame 35 is pivotably coupled with the cross bar 56 via a pair of hinges 58. In the seating configuration or mode A (FIG. 1), the support surface 34 is positioned proximate and substantially parallel with the back frame 12, where the support arrangement and is configured to support removable cushions (not shown) and the back of a seated user.

[0026] The support arrangement 53 may further include a drop-down leg 42 (FIGS. 1, 4 and 6) pivotably coupled with the support surface frame 55 via a pivot arrangement 57 where the leg 42 is configured to be selectively moved between a retracted position (FIG. 1) where the leg 42 is proximate and substantially parallel with the support surface 34 and an extend position (FIG. 4) where the leg 42 extends away from and is substantially perpendicular to the support surface 34 to support the support surface 34 and further described below. The leg 42 is biased from the extended position toward the retracted position via a pair of coil springs 59.

[0027] As best illustrated in FIG. 2, the support frame 16 has a first width W1 and the connection arrangement 44 has a second width W2, where W1 is greater than W2 such that the connection arrangement 44 can fit between the arm assemblies 14A, 14B and within the support frame 16 when in the retracted position 52. As further illustrated in FIG. 2, the support surface 34 has a third width W3 that is less than W2, while the link member 28 has a fourth width W4 that is less than W2 such that the link member 28 can fit within the connection member 44 when in the seated position, and specifically between the pair of connection members 50. The seat member 22 has a fifth width W5 that is less than W2 such that the seat member 22 can fit within the connection member 44 when the furniture arrangement 10 is in the seating configuration A, and specifically between the pair of connection members 50.

[0028] The furniture arrangement 10 may be converted from the seating configuration A (FIG. 1) to the bed configuration B (FIG. 3) by pivoting the link member 28 from being positioned over the support frame 16 to extending forwardly from the support frame 16 where the link member 28 is configured to support the user when in a prone position. Converting the furniture arrangement 10 to the bed configuration B includes pivoting the seat member 22 from the seating or first position (FIG. 1) to the bed or second position (FIG. 3), where the seat member 22 extends co-planarly and outwardly from the link member 28 when in the second position. The seat member may include a pair of legs 68 (FIG. 3) that support the seat member 22 when in the second position 26. In the illustrated example, the link member 28 pivots about 180 degrees between the first and second positions.

[0029] Converting the furniture arrangement 10 to the bed configuration B may include pivoting the support surface 34 between the back rest position (FIG. 1) where the support surface 34 extends substantially co-planarly with the back frame 12 and the seat member 22 when the seat member 22 is in the second position 26 and a pivoted position 38 where the support surface 34 is substantially horizontal and is located over the support frame 16 at a first height H1 and is configured to support the user in a prone position. When in the bed configuration B, the back frame 12 may resemble a headrest, such that the user may be prone on the furniture arrangement 10 in the bed configuration B with their head toward the back frame 12.

[0030] The furniture arrangement 10 may be converted to the table or dinette configuration C. In the table configuration C, the seat member 22 is in the first position similarly to the seating configuration A, and the link member 28 is positioned above the support frame 16, again similar to the seating configuration A. To convert the furniture arrangement 10 from the seating configuration A to the table configuration C, the connection arrangement 44 pivots away from the second side 20 of the support frame 16 along the first axis X between the retracted position and an extended position, where the second end 48 of the connection member 44 extends upwardly and is positioned above the first end 46 of the connection member. When in the table configuration C the support surface 34 is substantially horizontal located at a second height H2 that is greater than H1. The drop-down leg 42 may drop down and support the support surface 34 in the table position 40.

[0031] The furniture arrangement 10 is further configured to operate between the various configurations or modes when detached or uncoupled from the back frame 12 and the arm assemblies 14A, 14B. Specifically, the support frame 16 may be detached from the arm assemblies 14A, 14B via the pluralities of bolts 13, and the support frame 16, the seat member 22, the link member 28, the connection arrangement 44. The support arrangement 53 moves away from the back frame 12 and the arm assemblies 14A, 14B, where the furniture arrangement 10 may be converted between the various configurations including the seating configuration A, the bed configuration B and the table configuration C. The furniture arrangement 10 may also be configured to operate in a second table configuration when supported from the back frame 12 and the arm assemblies 14A, 14B where the support arrangement is configured similar to the bed configuration B and the support surface 34 is positioned vertically over the support frame 16 and is substantially horizontally oriented at the first height H1 thereby allowing the support surface 34 to utilize as a table surface.

[0032] In the foregoing description, it will be readily appreciated by those skilled in the art that modifications may be made to the embodiments as described and shown herein without departing from the concepts generally disclosed herein. Such modifications are to be considered as included in the following claims, unless these claims by their language expressly state otherwise.
