DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0019] With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
[0020] As best illustrated in
[0021] The hood 14 has a front edge 30 which defines an opening 32 into the hood 14 and a rear wall 34 which extends between the front edge 30 and a neck 36 of the hooded garment 12. The rear wall 34 is concavely arcuate with respect to the front edge 30 to facilitate the hood 14 to conform to curvature of the user's head 13 when the hood 14 is worn over the user's head 13 having the opening 32 defined by the front edge 30 exposing the user's face 38. The aperture 16 extends through an inner surface 40 and an outer surface 42 of the rear wall 34. Additionally, the aperture 16 is centrally located on an apex 44 of the rear wall 34. In this way the aperture 16 is strategically located to facilitate the user's longer hair 18 to be comfortably extended through the aperture 16 when the hood 14 is worn over the user's head 13.
[0022] An elastomeric band 46 is integrated into the hood 14 and the elastomeric band 46 is positioned to surround the aperture 16. The elastomeric band 46 biases the aperture 16 into a minimum diameter thereby limiting the passage of air through the aperture 16 when the hood 14 is worn over the user's head 13 to assist with keeping the user's head 13 warm. The elastomeric band 46 is continuously arcuate such that the elastomeric band 46 forms a closed ring and the elastomeric band 46 is positioned between the inner surface 40 and the outer surface 42 of the hood 14. Furthermore, the elastomeric band 46 is aligned with a bounding edge 48 of the aperture 16 thereby facilitating the elastomeric band 46 to bias the bounding edge 48 inwardly toward a center 50 of the aperture 16 thereby defining a minimum diameter of the aperture 16.
[0023] The elastomeric band 46 is stretchable to facilitate the bounding edge 48 to be moved outwardly away from the center 50 of the aperture 16 thereby facilitating the aperture 16 to be widened into a maximum diameter. In this way the elastomeric band 46 can assist the user 15 with passing their longer hair 18 through the aperture 16. The elastomeric band 46 biases the bounding edge 48 to collapse around the user's longer hair 18 when the user's longer hair 18 is passed through the aperture 16. In this way the elastomeric band 46 can inhibit air from passing between the user's longer hair 18 and the bounding edge 48 of the aperture 16. The minimum diameter of the aperture 16 may range between approximately 1.3 cm and 2.5 cm and the maximum diameter of the aperture 16 may range between approximately 7.5 cm and 9.0 cm.
[0024] In use, the user 15 wears the hooded garment 12 and the user 15 extends their longer hair 18, which may be styled into a ponytail or a bun, outwardly through the aperture 16 in the hood 14 and the user 15 positions the hood 14 over their head 13. In this way the fitment of the hood 14 on the user's head 13 is enhanced such that the neck 36 of the hooded garment 12 does not pull against the user's neck 52 as can occur with traditional hooded garments when the user's longer hair 18 is bunded beneath the hood of the traditional hooded garment. The elastomeric band 46 biases the aperture 16 to close around the user's longer hair 18 thereby limiting the passage of air between the user's longer hair 18 and the aperture 16. In this way the hood 14 can keep the user's head 13 warm while the user's longer hair 18 is extended through the aperture 16. The user's longer hair 18 is pulled inwardly through the aperture 16 in the hood 14 to facilitate the hood 14 to be removed from the user's head 13.
