[0039] The present invention discloses a device or comb 10 for applying a liquid material to hair and detangling the hair. FIG. 1A, FIG. 1B and FIG. 1C show a top perspective view, a bottom perspective view and a side view, respectively of device 10, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. Device 10 is made of a material such as plastic, metal, wood or any other suitable material. Device 10 includes a main body 12 having a first part 14 and a second part or bristle handler 16. Device 10 includes a handle 18. Handle 18 extends from main body 12 and helps a user (not shown) to hold and operate device 10.

[0040] In the present invention, first part 14 comes in a cup-like structure and acts as a top or upper part of main body 12. Second part 16 comes in a cup-like structure and acts as a bottom or lower part of main body 12. First part 14 is larger than second part 16, or vice versa. Second part 16 snugly fits into first part 14 forming a cavity 20, as shown in FIG. 4. Here, cavity 20 acts as a liquid reservoir for holding liquid material 44.

[0041] Further, first part 14 encompasses a plate receiving section 22, as shown in FIG. 2. Plate receiving section 22 indicates an opening at the top first part 14 configured for receiving plate 26. In one example, plate receiving section 22 includes a plate receptor 24. Plate receptor 24 indicates an area where plate 26 sits in plate receiving section 22 forming a closed structure with first part 14. Plate 26 comes in a flat configuration or in the shape in conformity to first part 14. Plate 26 encompasses plate protrusion member 28. Plate protrusion member 28 extends from a side of plate 26 and helps to connect plate 26 at plate receptor 24. First part 14 further includes a cut-section 32 at the top. Cut-section 32 indicates an area chipped away at the top of first part 14 for allowing the user to have an area to release plate 26 from first part 14 for filling or emptying liquid material 44 from cavity 20.

[0042] In one embodiment, first part 14 includes sealing member or seal 30, as shown in FIG. 2. Sealing member 30 indicates an adhesive strip or connecting member that sits underneath plate 26 and helps to connect plate 26 to plate receptor 24.

[0043] Further, second part 16 encompasses slots 36, as shown in FIG. 3. Slots 36 connect to bristles 38. Here, bristles 38 extend from second part 16 in the opposite direction of first part 14. Bristles 38 are made of silicone, wood, plastic or any other suitable material. Each bristle 38 has a tapered section or tapered configuration 40. Further, bristles 38 encompass holes 40, as shown in FIG. 4 and FIG. 5. Here, holes 40 align with slots 36 in second part 16 such that liquid material 44 stored in cavity 20 flows through holes 40 of bristles 38. As the bristles 38 are tapered, liquid material 44 flows down easily due to gravity.

[0044] In operation, the user opens plate 26 and fills liquid material 44 in cavity 20 in the direction 34, as shown in FIG. 2. Liquid material 44 includes, but not limited to, hairdressing agent, a hair dye, a moisturizer, a protective agent, shampoo, conditioner, a hair restorer, etc. After filling liquid material 44, the user snugly fits plate 26 to first part 14 at plate receiving section 22 or plate receptor 24. Here, sealing member 30 helps to retain plate 26 in position with respect to plate receiving section 22. Additionally, sealing member 30 ensures there is no gap between plate 26 and plate receiving section 22 thereby preventing leakage of liquid material 44. In use, the user positions bristles 38 facing the scalp or head of the user. Liquid material 44 flows down through slots 46 at second part 16 and holes 40 at bristles 38. Liquid material 44 exits bristles 38 and falls over the scalp or head of the user. The user can position device 10 at an angle to control the flow or direction of liquid material 44 falling over the scalp or head of the user depending on the need. Alternatively, the user positions device 10 horizontally such that liquid material 44 gets dispensed evenly through bristles 38.

[0045] Further, the user can use device 10 for detangling the hair. A person skilled in the art understands that device 10 can be used to detangle the hair with or without (i.e., detangle dry hair or comb the hair) the liquid material 44 stored in cavity 20. In one example, the user fills liquid material 44 in cavity 20 and positions bristles 38 over the scalp to apply a small amount of liquid material 44 thereby moisturizing the hair. Subsequently, the user positions bristles 38 to detangle the hair. After use, the user removes plate 26, first part 14, second part 16 and/or bristles 38, and uses warm water to clean residue of liquid material 44.

[0046] FIG. 6A, FIG. 6B and FIG. 6C show a side perspective view, a side perspective view and a front perspective view, respectively of device 100, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. Further, FIG. 7 shows a three-dimensional (3D) view of device 100. Device 100 is made of a material such as plastic, metal, wood or any other suitable material. Device 100 includes a main body 102 having a plate 104. Plate 104 removably connects to main body 102 and provides access to an interior 105 within main body 102 (FIG. 8). In one example, plate 104 is made of a silicone or any other suitable material. Interior 105 receives liquid material from a liquid storage area 114 of a handle 110. Interior 105 presents slots (similar to slots 38 explained above). Plate 104 positions at the top of main body 102 and can be opened to access and clean interior 105. Plate 104 may include a sealing member (not shown, similar to 30). The sealing member mounts underneath plate 104 and helps to seal plate 104 to main body 102.

[0047] Main body 102 includes bristles 106. Here, bristles 106 extend from main body 102. Bristles 106 are made of silicone, wood, plastic or any other suitable material. Each bristle 106 has a tapered section or tapered configuration. Further, bristles 106 encompass holes 108, as shown in FIG. 8. Here, holes 108 align with the slots in main body 102, allowing the liquid material to flow from interior 105, through the slots in the main body 102, and then through holes 108 of bristles 106. As the bristles 106 are tapered, the liquid material flows down easily due to gravity.

[0048] Further, device 100 includes a handle 110 extending from main body 102. Handle 110 helps a user (not shown) to hold and operate device 100. Handle 110 includes a cap 111. Cap 111 removably mounts at the end of handle 110. Handle 110 and cap 111 form liquid storage area 114. Further, handle 110 includes an indication section 112. Indication section 112 is a marking or scale showing amount of liquid material stored or remaining in a liquid storage area 114. Liquid storage area 114 is in fluid communication with interior 105. In some implementations, a user pours the liquid material into liquid storage area 114 by opening cap 111. After filling the required amount, the user closes cap 111. Indication section 112 showcases how much liquid is remaining in liquid storage area 114. In the present invention, the liquid material is made to flow from liquid storage area 114 into interior 105. Subsequently, the liquid material flows into bristles 106 via the slots, as explained above.

[0049] In some implementations, an actuator system is utilized to control the flow of the liquid material from liquid storage area 114 into interior 105. The actuator system includes a first actuator or first button 116 and a second actuator or second button 118. First actuator 116 positions at the bottom of handle 110, and second actuator 118 extends above from handle 110. In one example, first actuator 116 acts as a fixed button and second actuator 118 acts as a movable button. Second actuator 118 is movable along a locking groove 122. When actuated, second actuator 118 rests against the centrally positioned locking compartment or valve 120 and blocks the flow of liquid material from liquid storage area 114 to interior 105. FIG. 8 shows the feature of second actuator 118 locked into locking compartment 120 and blocking the fluid communication between liquid storage area 114 into interior 105. In other words, when first actuator 116 and second actuator 118 are closed, liquid storage area 114 is isolated from main body 102 and the liquid material remains stored in liquid storage area 114. FIG. 9 shows the feature of second actuator 118 released from locking compartment 120 upon pressing second actuator 118 from the top. At this point, second actuator 118 goes up and allows liquid communication between liquid storage area 114 and interior 105. This allows the liquid material to flow from the liquid storage area 114 into interior 105, when then flows out through bristles 106.

[0050] In use, the user fills liquid storage area 114 with the liquid material by opening cap 111. The indication section 112 shows the amount of the liquid material present in liquid storage area 114. When needed, the user operates second actuator 118 to dispense or release the liquid material from liquid storage area 114 into interior 105 and then into bristles 106. The user may selectively operate second actuator 118 to dispense a predetermined amount of liquid material from liquid storage area 114 into interior 105. The user may see how much the liquid capacity is left in liquid storage area 114 using indication section 112. When liquid storage area 114 becomes empty, the user refills liquid storage area 114 with the liquid material by opening cap 111.

[0051] Based on the above, it is evident that the presently disclosed device can be used to apply a liquid material and/or detangle the hair. The presently disclosed device can be used as a hair brush to oil dry scalp, moisturize hair to prevent breakage, evenly dye hair, detangle dry and wet hair, and provide deep shampoo and conditioning.
