DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS
[0039] The present invention will be described more fully hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which preferred embodiments of the invention are shown. This invention may, however, be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as limited to the embodiments set forth herein; rather, these embodiments are provided so that this disclosure will be thorough and complete, and will fully convey the scope of the invention to those skilled in the art. In the drawings, like numbers refer to like elements.
[0040]
[0041] The latch shaft 20 is attached to the attachment part 10. The latch shaft 20 and the latch shaft 10 are rotationally fixed relative to each other. Hence, when the actuator means 18 is operated to rotate the latch 1, the latch shaft 20 is rotated. The latch shaft 20 has a cross-section being circular with a cut flat portion 22. The latch shaft 20 extends along a longitudinal direction X.
[0042] The cam 30 extends along a direction Y being perpendicular to the direction X. The cam 30 comprises an opening 37 through which the latch shaft 20 extends. The cam 30 is openable using a cam lock 33. The cam lock 33 can be opened and closed to and from an opened position and a closed position. In the closed position, the opening 37 is smaller than in the open position. The latch shaft 20 extending through the opening 37 is thereby locked relative to the cam 30 when the cam lock 33 is in the closed position.
[0043] From the opening 37 to the cam lock 33, a lock slit 35 extends. The lock slit 35 provides two arms extending on respective sides of the lock slit 35 from the opening 37 towards the cam lock 33. In the closed position, the cam lock 33 provides the two arms to be pressed towards each other, reducing the width of the lock slit 35. To additionally provide flexibility in the size of the opening 37 when the cam lock 33 is either closed or open, the cam 30 comprises one or more additional slits 36 extending from the opening 37. The additional slits 36 may extend towards an edge of the cam 30.
[0044] The cam lock 33 is provided in the form of a snap lock. As further illustrated in
[0045] The opening 37 is circular with a cut flat portion 39. This shape of the opening 37 provides, in combination with the corresponding shape of the cross-section of the latch shaft 20, that the latch shaft 20 is rotationally fixed relative to the cam 30, and that the latch shaft can be inserted into the opening 37 in only one predetermined rotational position.
[0046] The latch shaft 20 comprises at least one groove section. In the illustrated embodiment, the latch shaft 20 comprises three groove sections 24a, 24b, 24c. Each groove section 24a, 24b, 24c comprises a plurality of grooves. The grooves in a groove section 24a, 24b, 24c are axially separated along the longitudinal direction X of the latch shaft 20. The grooves may be axially separated but arranged axially adjacent to each other. The grooves of a groove section 24a, 24b, 24c extend along a common portion of the circumference of the latch shaft 20. The grooves of a groove section 24a, 24b, 24c are separated along the circumference of the latch shaft 20 from the grooves of another groove section 24a, 24b, 24c. A first groove section 24a is arranged on the cut flat portion of the latch shaft 20.
[0047] The cam 30 comprises, at an inner surface of the opening 37, one or more projections 38. The number of projections 38 correspond to the number of groove sections 24a, 24b, 24c on the latch shaft 20. Each projection 38 is elongated along the circumference of the opening 37. Each projection 38 extend along a portion of the circumference of the opening 37. In case of several projections 38a, 38b, 38c, the projections are separated from each other along the circumference of the opening 37. One projection 38a is arranged on the cut flat portion 39 of the opening. All projections 38a, 38b, 38c are arranged at a common axial level in the opening 37.
[0048] The cam 30 comprises a first portion 31 at which the opening 37 through which the latch shaft 20 extends is provided. The cam further comprises a second portion 32 which interacts, when the latch is arranged to a door 2 and is in the closed position, with the door frame 3. The cam 30 extends in a direction Y being perpendicular to the longitudinal direction X of the latch shaft 20. The second portion 32 of the cam 30 is offset the first portion 31 along the direction X.
[0049] As seen in
[0050] Further, due to the offset of the second portion 32 of the cam 30, and that the cam can be flipped relative to the latch shaft 20, the range of possible door and door frame configurations which the latch 1 can be used for is further increased. As seen in
[0051] On the second portion 32 of the cam 30, either if the second portion 32 is offset the first portion 31 or not, it may comprise, at an end of the cam 30, a hold projection 34. As further seen in
[0052]
[0053]
[0054] In the drawings and specification, there have been disclosed preferred embodiments and examples of the invention and, although specific terms are employed, they are used in a generic and descriptive sense only and not for the purpose of limitation, the scope of the invention being set forth in the following claims.
