Abstract
A device for therapeutic skin treatment using infrared radiation is provided in accordance with the embodiments of the present invention. It is portable and includes portable rechargeable batteries, such that it can be used on the go (while driving, for example). Furthermore, it is safe and designed to resemble everyday products to facilitate inconspicuous treatments so nobody will know a device is being used by a user for rejuvenating purposes, which attends to the user's privacy considerations. Moreover, the device of the present invention is inexpensive, easy to operate and effective and efficient in providing infrared radiation-based skin rejuvenating treatments, incorporating infrared radiation elements positioned in close proximity to the skin.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF SPECIFIC EMBODIMENTS
[0023]
[0024] The infrared radiation element can be embedded into the mask, between the layers of the mask. Alternatively, it can be disposed on the interior of the mask, and in some instances on the exterior of the mask. The infrared radiation element is configured to emit infrared radiation in the middle infrared range of 3-30 μm. In some instances, the infrared radiation element is configured to emit radiation in the range of 30-100 μm. Preferably, in the range of 6-10 μm, and most preferably at 8.5 μm. The infrared radiation element can include one or more strips having a plurality of infrared LEDs attached thereto. In some instances, it can incorporate one or more infrared lasers. The human immune system is enhanced by exposure to infrared radiation with the wavelength of 5 microns to 20 microns and the devices of the present invention are configured to be used to treat skin as well as to prevent diseases, including Covid-19 infections. According to the embodiments of the present invention, the mask incorporating an infrared radiation element can be any medical protective mask such as KN95 mask, or preferably a reusable respirator mask, or a surgical mask such as a 3-ply face mask, or a Kitsbow Wake Protech reusable face mask, or a reusable cotton mask, or any other reusable suitable protective masks. The infrared radiation element is positioned in close proximity to the skin of the user. In some instances, the distance between the skin of the user and the infrared radiation element is in the range from 1 mm to 10 mm. In a more preferred embodiment, the distance is in the range from 1 mm to 6 mm; and yet in a preferred embodiment, the distance is in the range from 1 mm to 3 mm. In some instances, the infrared radiation element can be in direct contact with the skin of the user.
[0025] According to one embodiment of the present invention, the infrared radiation element is an electrically operated heating pad, which can include a flexible black body radiant heat generating layer configured to radiate the energy from its surface at a pre-determined wavelength when the current is conducted therethrough, a pair of flexible electrically insulating and radiant energy permeable layers covering the opposite sides of the layer, a thermal insulation layer and a reflective layer. The flexible radiant heat generating layer can include a fiber glass mat impregnated with resistive material. In some instances, the infrared radiation element can be a heating pad radiating the infrared radiation form the heating coils by conduction. It can include a plurality of insulated electrical heating elements held within a sealed cloth envelop. It could further include a thermostat to control the amount of heat generated. This type of heating pads is resistance heated by the flow of electricity therethrough, which heat the surrounding insulated envelop. The technical result of the present invention is achieved, among other things, by the fact the infrared radiation element is positioned in closed proximity to the skin, unlike the designs of the prior art devices, wherein the infrared radiation element is positioned too far from the skin of a user to be an effective and efficient provider of a skin rejuvenating treatment.
[0026] According to some embodiments of the present invention, the infrared radiation element can be made of carbon fiber. It was discovered that a carbon fiber infrared element can heat and treat the skin more efficiently in comparison with copper and other metals, because it has a very low coefficient of thermal expansion. The infrared radiation element can be incorporated into a mask in a pattern as illustrated in
[0027] Referring now to
[0028] In order to achieve beneficial results, the devices of the present invention should be used for 15-20 minutes per day for at least 10 days. In some instances, the devices should be used for at least 20 days, and in some instances for 30 days, as further illustrated by
[0029] The mask incorporating the infrared radiation element as disclosed above can be used as a stand-alone device for skin treatment of face. In some instances, the mask can be used in combination with gloves incorporating infrared radiation element as disclosed above as a kit for skin treatment of face and hands. The infrared radiation element can also be incorporated into various pieces of clothing such as bra, for example to treat various areas of skin, in a similar fashion as described above in relation to a face mask and gloves.
