    Abstract

    A water pump assembly includes a pump provided with a first inlet and a first outlet and a damper mounted on top of the pump and having a second inlet in communication with the first inlet for communication with a water inflow, a second outlet in communication with the first outlet and a cavity communicating with the second outlet for communication with a water outflow. The cavity is filled with a sound-absorbing cotton.

    Claims

    1. In a water pump assembly having pump provided with a first inlet and a first outlet, wherein the improvements comprise: a damper mounted on top of the pump and having a second inlet in communication with the first inlet for communication with a water inflow, a second outlet in communication with the first outlet and a cavity communicating with the second outlet for communication with a water outflow.

    2. The water pump assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein a ratio between a cross section of the cavity and a cross section of the first outlet is 3:1˜28:1.

    3. The water pump assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein a first circumferential flange is adapted to be formed on an outer periphery of the pump and the damper has a second circumferential flange formed on an outer periphery thereof to correspond to and mate with the first circumferential flange so as to allow a positioning element to extend through the mated first circumferential flange and the second circumferential flange to complete assembly between the pump and the damper.

    4. The water pump assembly as claimed in claim 2, wherein the cavity is filled with a sound-absorbing cotton.

    5. The water pump assembly as claimed in claim 3, wherein the cavity is filled with a sound-absorbing cotton.

    6. The water pump assembly as claimed in claim 2, wherein a cross section ratio between the cavity and the first outlet is 20:1.

    7. The water pump assembly as claimed in claim 3, wherein a cross section ratio between the cavity and the first outlet is 20:1.

    8. The water pump assembly as claimed in claim 4, wherein a cross section ratio between the cavity and the first outlet is 20:1.

    9. The water pump assembly as claimed in claim 5, wherein a cross section ratio between the cavity and the first outlet is 20:1.

    BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

    [0009] FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the pump assembly constructed in accordance with the embodiment of the present invention;

    [0010] FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view of the pump assembly shown in FIG. 1;

    [0011] FIG. 3 is a cross sectional view of the pump assembly shown in FIG. 1; and

    [0012] FIG. 4 is a plan view showing the application of the pump assembly.

    DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

    [0013] The technical characteristics and objectives of the present invention can be further understood by the following detailed description of preferred embodiment(s) and related drawings.

    [0014] With reference to FIGS. 1, 2 and 3, it is to be noted that the water pump assembly constructed in accordance with the present invention has a pump 3 and a damper 4 securely mounted on top of the pump 3. The water pump 3 defines therein a first inlet 1 and a first outlet 2. Furthermore, a first circumferential flange 11 is formed on an outer periphery of the pump 3.

    [0015] The damper 4 mounted on top of the pump 3 has a second inlet 5 defined therein to correspond to and communicate with the first inlet 1, a second outlet 6 defined therein to correspond to and communicate with the first outlet 2 of the pump 3 and a cavity 7 in communication with the second outlet 6. The damper 4 still has a second circumferential flange 10 formed on an outer periphery of the damper 4 to correspond to the first circumferential flange 11 of the pump 3.

    [0016] It is noted especially from FIG. 3, when the damper 4 is to be assembled with the pump 3, the second circumferential flange 10 of the damper 4 is placed next to the first circumferential flange 11 to allow a positioning element 12, such as a bolt, to extend through the mated first circumferential flange 11 and the second circumferential flange 10 to secure the assembly between the pump 3 and the damper 4. After the assembly between the pump 3 and the damper 4 is completed, it is clear that the first inlet 1 communicates with the second inlet 5 and the second outlet 6 communicates with the first outlet 2. Then a water source (not numbered) having a water inflow waterway 8 and a water outflow waterway 9 may be connected to the damper 4 to allow the second inlet 5 to communicate with the water inflow waterway 8 and the second outlet 6 communicate with the water outflow waterway 9 in a watertight manner. In addition, the cavity 7 is filled with a sound-absorbing cotton 71 to greatly reduce noise generated from high velocity outflow water. The existence of the cavity 7 and communication between the cavity 7 and the second outlet 6 is able to slow down the water velocity and thus provides a buffer to waterflow.

    [0017] With reference to FIG. 4, it is noted that the water pump assembly of the preferred embodiment of the present invention is able to connect to a water filter C on one side and a water purifier A on the other side.

    [0018] While the invention has been described by means of specific embodiments, numerous modifications and variations could be made thereto by those skilled in the art without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention set forth in the claims.
