    Abstract

A bedding apparatus is provided. The bedding apparatus includes a flexible body having a slit extending along a majority of the flexible body, thereby defining a first portion and a second portion. A plurality of fasteners extends along the slit that removably secures the first portion to the second portion. A placket extends along the slit on the first portion, such that the placket can fold over the plurality of fasteners to conceal the plurality of fasteners during use. In one use, the first portion and the second portion can be selectively and independently folded along the flexible body, such that a user can adjust the amount of the flexible body covering themselves without disturbing another individual utilizing the device.

    Description

    BRIEF DESCRIPTIONS OF THE DRAWINGS

[0010] Although the characteristic features of this invention will be particularly pointed out in the claims, the invention itself and manner in which it may be made and used may be better understood after a review of the following description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings wherein like numeral annotations are provided throughout.

[0011] FIG. 1 shows a top view of an embodiment of the bedding apparatus.

[0012] FIG. 2 shows a top view of an embodiment of the bedding apparatus.

[0013] FIG. 3 shows a perspective view of an embodiment of the bedding apparatus in use.

    DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0014] Reference is made herein to the attached drawings. Like reference numerals are used throughout the drawings to depict like or similar elements of the bedding apparatus. The figures are intended for representative purposes only and should not be limiting in any respect.

[0015] FIG. 1 shows a top view of an embodiment of a bedding apparatus. The bedding apparatus 11 comprises a flexible body 12. The flexible body 12 includes a top face 16 and a bottom face. In the shown embodiment, the flexible body 12 is rectangular comprising a length and a width. In use, the flexible body 12 rests above a bed. A user will sleep underneath the bedding apparatus 11 with their body against the bottom face of the flexible body 12. The flexible body 12 includes a length and a width. The length of the flexible body 12 is the vertical axis. The width of the flexible body 12 is the horizontal.

[0016] The bedding apparatus 11 further comprises a slit 17. The slit 17 extends along the majority of the flexible body 12 length. The slit 17 is centrally disposed along a width of the flexible body 12. The slit 17 is perpendicular with an upper edge 15 of the flexible body 12. In the shown embodiment, the slit 17 begins at the upper edge 15 and terminates at a point two-thirds of the length of the flexible body 12. The remaining one-third defines a lower portion 18. The lower portion 18 is configured to cover the feet of the users during use. Also, the lower portion 18 is continuous along the width of the flexible body 12. The lower portion of the flexible body 12 that does not have the silt 17 extending through it will keep the bedding apparatus 11 connected. The slit 17 is centrally disposed on the flexible body 12, in that the slit 17 defines two equivalent portions. A first portion 13 and a second portion 14 are equivalent in area.

[0017] FIG. 2 shows a top view of an embodiment of a bedding apparatus. The bedding apparatus 11 allows for multiple users to independently decide the length of coverage they have on their person during use. For two individuals that are sharing the bedding apparatus 11 but have different preferences on the amount of the bedding apparatus 11 they use during sleep, they may adjust the length of the first portion and the second portion 14, respectively. A plurality of fasteners 22 are disposed along an inner edge 21 of the second portion 14. In one embodiment, the plurality of fasteners 22 are snaps. In another embodiment, the plurality of fasteners 22 are clasps. In the shown embodiment, the plurality of fasteners 22 are buttons. A placket 23 extends along the slit 17 on the first portion. The placket 23 folds over the plurality of fasteners 22 to conceal the plurality of fasteners 22 during use.

[0018] Prior to use, the plurality of fasteners 22 are engaged with a plurality of complementary openings 24 disposed on an inner edge of the first portion. Each fastener disposed on the inner edge 21 of the second portion 14 has a corresponding opening that is disposed on an inner edge of the first portion. Each fastener of the plurality of fasteners 22 will engage with a corresponding opening of the plurality of complementary openings 24 to secure the first portion to the second portion 14. When an individual wants to separate a section of the first portion from the second portion 14, they will selectively disengage the desired number of fasteners from the respective opening. When the plurality of fasteners 22 are selectively disengaged the portion may be folded down the towards the lower portion of the flexible body 12. When the bedding apparatus 11 is in a folded position, a distal edge of placket 23 is aligned with inner edge of the first portion.

[0019] FIG. 3 shows a perspective view of an embodiment of a bedding apparatus in use. In use, the bedding apparatus 11 will lay upon a mattress. For individuals that share a bed with another, each individual can choose the orientation of their respective side of the bedding apparatus 11. The flexible body 12 has multiple orientations that one individual may select. A first orientation is the flexible body 12 fully covering both users. A second orientation is the flexible body 12 fully covering one user and partially covering the other user. A third orientation is the flexible body 12 partially covering both users. A fourth orientation is the flexible body 12 fully covering one user and completely off the other user. A fifth orientation is the flexible body 12 partially covering one user and completely off the other user. A sixth orientation is the flexible body 12 complete off both users. The first portion and the second portion will remain connected below the two-thirds length at the lower portion 18 of the flexible body 12.

[0020] The users may selectively disengage and engage the plurality of fasteners 22 disposed along an inner edge 21 from the corresponding openings. When either disengaging or engaging the plurality of fasteners 22, the fasteners utilized are operable with a minimum amount of sound and effort, thereby minimizing the risk of disturbing a sleeping individual. When the plurality of fasteners 22 are disengaged from the corresponding openings, the user may fold the respective portion 19 over the lower portion 18, the lower portion can be folded over onto the remaining half of the flexible body.

[0021] It is therefore submitted that the instant invention has been shown and described in what is considered to be the most practical and preferred embodiments. It is recognized, however, that departures may be made within the scope of the invention and that obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art. With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of the invention, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by the present invention.
