A golf bag having a shoulder strap assembly including a two strap system that can be converted to a single strap system is provided. In the two strap system, Strap A is fitted over one shoulder and Strap B is fitted over the other shoulder. To convert from a double strap configuration to a single strap configuration, Strap A is detached and slipped over the head area and coupled to Strap B. This results in a single strap comprising both Straps A and B. The combined Straps A and B are joined together by a suitable fastening means. For example, complementary male and female members that interlock with each other on the straps can be used. The shoulder strap assembly is durable, lightweight, easy to use, and comfortable. In another embodiment, a central hub connector having four open slots for retaining the shoulder straps is provided. The Straps A and B criss-cross each other in the hub connector. Strap A or B can be removed from the hub connector to convert the two-strap assembly to a single strap assembly.

A protective golf bag system includes a golf bag a removable protective cover. The cover is supported by a protector fitted into a top opening of the bag. The protector includes a divider with a plurality of arms spanning across the sides of the bag and adapted to attach to the sides. These arms form areas for inserting of a number of golf clubs. At the bottom of the bag is a plate to which is releasably anchored an extensible tube with a top portion and a bottom portion centrally positioned in the golf bag with a handle extending through a center of the divider. A button on the handle releases a connecting member at each of the top and bottom of the extensible tube that fixes the relative position of the top and bottom portions of the extensible tube.

Golf bag strap systems and methods to manufacture the same are generally described herein. In one example a strap system may include a strap connector having a body portion, a plurality of slots in the body portion, and a plurality of ports extending orthogonally into the plurality of slots. The strap connector may include a plurality of self-adjusting strap fitments pivotally coupled to the strap connector. Each of the plurality of self-adjusting strap fitments may independently self-pivot relative to the strap connector. Other examples may be described and claimed.
