PROCESS FOR CONVERTING ALKANES TO OLEFINS
20220267233 · 2022-08-25 · ·

A process and apparatus for converting an alkane to an olefin. In one embodiment, the process involves oxidative coupling of an alkane, e.g., methane, with an oxidant, such as air, to produce an olefin having twice the number of carbon atoms as the alkane, e.g., ethylene. In another embodiment, the process involves oxidative dehydrogenation of an alkane, e.g., ethane, with an oxidant to form an olefin having the same number of carbon atoms as the alkane, e.g., ethylene. The process involves passing a flow of the oxidant from a first flow passage through a porous medium; diffusing a flow of the alkane from a second flow passage into the porous medium; and contacting the reactant alkane and the oxidant in the presence of a catalyst within the porous medium to produce the olefin.

A method for converting uranium hexafluoride to uranium dioxide includes steps of hydrolysis of UF.sub.6 to uranium oxyfluoride (UO.sub.2F.sub.2) in a hydrolysis reactor (4) by reaction between gaseous UF.sub.6 and dry water vapour injected into the reactor (4), and pyrohydrolysis of UO.sub.2F.sub.2 to UO.sub.2 in a pyrohydrolysis furnace (6) by reaction of UO.sub.2F.sub.2 with dry water vapour and hydrogen gas (H.sub.2) injected into the furnace (6). The hourly mass flowrate of gaseous UF.sub.6 supplied to the reactor (4) is between 75 and 130 kg/h, the hourly mass flowrate of dry water vapour supplied to the reactor (4) for hydrolysis is between 15 and 30 kg/h, and the temperature inside the reactor (4) is between 150 and 250° C.

Method and apparatus for producing fluorine-containing organic compound

Provided is a method for producing a fluorine-containing organic compound. The method can immediately detect the occurrence of a side reaction in direct fluorination reaction using fluorine gas and can give a highly pure fluorine-containing organic compound at a high yield. A raw material liquid (1) containing a raw material organic compound having a hydrogen atom and two or more carbon atoms is reacted with fluorine gas in a reaction container (11) to replace the hydrogen atom of the raw material organic compound with a fluorine atom to give a fluorine-containing organic compound. In the reaction, tetrafluoromethane contained in a gas phase (2) in the reaction container (11) is continuously measured, and the amount of the fluorine gas supplied to the reaction container (11) is controlled depending on the measured value of the tetrafluoromethane.
