Isolation of nucleic acids
Provided herein is technology relating to isolating nucleic acids. In particular, the technology relates to methods and kits for extracting nucleic acids from problematic samples such as stool.
Device, system and methods for separation and purification of organic compounds from botanical material
The botanical extraction and purification device described in this patent provide the ability to extract and purify botanical compounds from a diverse plant species through specially crafted process sequences that effectively reach the desired botanical component despite differences in botanical material types and unique differences in organic chemical characteristics. The technological package consists of two main processing centers; each is a combination of process features that can be personalized to effectively address unique extraction requirements. When combined, the extraction processes deliver capabilities in product throughput speed and product purity not available using previously available separation methods. The first component of this package is a CUP that transfers chemical compounds from botanical material into a solvent. The second component is an AISP. This device separates unwanted botanical compounds from the solvent, resulting in a relatively pure plant extract.

CONTAINER SET AND SAMPLE PREPARATION METHOD USING SAME
A container set including: a filter unit; and a closing unit that is attachable to and detachable from the filter unit. The filter unit includes: a housing having a sample introduction opening provided at one end, and a liquid discharging opening provided at the second end; and a filter fixed to the housing. The housing has a first joining part, and the closing unit has a second joining part configured to be joinable with the first joining part. The first joining part and the second joining part are configured such that the liquid discharging opening is spatially closed in a state in which the two joining parts are joined together. A space between the closing unit and the filter is made into a positive pressure relative to a pressure in the sample holding space by pushing the filter unit and the closing unit such that the distance therebetween is shortened.

ADIPOSE TISSUE CENTRIFUGE AND METHOD OF USE
A centrifuge device is provided for the sizing and separation of constituents of a biologic mixture, e.g., adipose tissue. The device provides for the mechanical breaking down of the fibrous structure in the tissue by centrifugation causing the tissue to pass through a mesh element, or a sizing helix, or an extrusion element, whereupon the material is reduced to a slurry. This processed material may then be separated by centrifugation into its constituents, in order to harvest the fraction containing the multipotent cells. These multipotent cells may be utilized for various medical procedures to stimulate healing and tissue regeneration.
METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE OPERATION OF A CONTINUOUSLY OR PERIODICALLY OPERATING CENTRIFUGE AND DEVICE FOR CONDUCTING THE METHOD
A method for controlling the operation of a continuously or periodically operating centrifuge can be employed in the sugar industry for separating crystalline carbohydrates or sugar alcohols from a crystal suspension called a magma or a mother liquor. The magma has a varying content of fine grain that is dependent on the properties of the pretreatment and of the raw material. Variable control values are provided in a control device of the centrifuge. One or plurality of sensors are provided that carry out the measurements in electromagnetic, optical, acoustic, and/or conductive ways. These measurements that are conducted serve for determining the fine grain fraction of the magma. The measurements are supplied as measurement signals to the control device of the centrifuge. The control device automatically analyzes the measurement signals supplied to it and evaluates them with respect to the fine grain content of the magma. The control device changes the variable control values of the centrifuge as a function of this evaluation.
CENTRIFUGE AND CENTRIFUGATION METHOD
Provided is a centrifuge including: a rotary chamber configured to rotate so that centrifugal force acts on a substance contained in the rotary chamber; a storage unit configured to store a certain component separated from the substance in the rotary chamber by the centrifugal force according to rotation of the rotary chamber; and a filter located between the storage unit and the rotary chamber and through which the certain component, which is separated from the substance in the rotary chamber by the centrifugal force according to the rotation of the rotary chamber, passes to be stored in the storage unit. The storage unit includes a return prevention unit configured to prevent the certain component, which is separated from the substance in the rotary chamber by the centrifugal force according to the rotation of the rotary chamber and is stored in the storage unit, from returning from the storage unit to the rotary chamber. The present disclosure has an effect of easily separating a certain component sought to be separated.

USED PAPER DIAPER PROCESSING APPARATUS
Provided is a used paper diaper processing apparatus in which a water absorption function of a superabsorbent polymer that absorbs water contained in excrement is lowered and water is removed by mixing the superabsorbent polymer and a chemical containing divalent metal ions in an outer tank, and in which weight is reduced by dehydration after an amount of water contained in a used paper diaper is lowered. In the apparatus, a lower portion of the outer tank can be opened and closed, so that weight reduction processing and a series of operations including taking-out are possible. Since an operator is not required to take out the used paper diaper after processing directly from the outer tank, it is possible to reduce work and hygiene burdens on the operator.
