Environmental barrier coating with porous bond coat layer
A gas turbine engine article includes a substrate and an environmental barrier coating (EBC) system disposed on the substrate. The EBC system includes, from the substrate, a dense bond coat layer, a porous bond coat layer, and a topcoat layer in contact with the porous bond coat layer at an interface. The porous bond coat layer includes a matrix, oxygen-scavenging gas-evolution particles dispersed through the matrix, and engineered buffer pores. The oxygen-scavenging gas-evolution particles react with oxygen and generate a gaseous byproduct that diffuses through the interface to escape the EBC system. The engineered buffer pores buffer diffusion of gaseous byproduct to the interface by retaining at least a portion of the gaseous byproduct.
METHOD FOR FORMING MULTI-LAYER COATING FILM
A method for forming a multilayer coating film, comprising the steps of applying a color paint (W) to a substrate to form a colored coating film; applying an effect pigment dispersion (X) to the colored coating film, wherein the effect pigment dispersion (X) contains an effect pigment (x2), and the content of the effect pigment (x2) in the effect pigment dispersion (X) is within a range of 15 to 80 parts by mass, based on 100 parts by mass of the total solids content in the effect pigment dispersion (X), to form an effect first base coating film; applying a transparent colored second base paint (Y) containing a color pigment (y2) to form a transparent colored second base coating film; and applying a clear paint (Z) to form a clear coating film, wherein the clear paint (Z) contains a hydroxy-containing acrylic resin (z1) and an aliphatic triisocyanate compound (z2-1) having a molecular weight within a range of 200 to 350.
SURFACE PROPERTIES MODIFICATION OF DIGITALLY MANUFACTURED ARTICLES VIA REACTIVE SILICON-CONTAINING PRECURSOR POLYMERS
Methods for forming a coated digitally manufactured part include forming an article by a digital manufacturing method; coating a surface of the article with a reactive silicon-containing precursor polymer; and treating the polymer to form a silica-containing coating, thereby forming the coated digitally manufactured part. An article includes a digitally manufactured part having surface striations; and a coating encapsulating the digitally manufactured part and comprising silica. An article includes a digitally manufactured part (i) formed by selective lase sintering, (ii) comprising a surface defined by coalesced particles, and (iii) having a surface roughness R.sub.a of at least 0.1 microns; and a coating encapsulating the part and comprising silica. A composition comprising polysilazane is described.
Process for producing optical effect layers
The present invention relates to the field of protecting value documents and value commercial goods against counterfeit and illegal reproduction. In particular, the present invention provides processes for producing optical effect layers (OELs) comprising non-spherical magnetic or magnetizable particles and comprising a motif made of at least two areas made of a single applied and cured layer, said motif being obtained by using a selective curing performed by irradiation with an actinic radiation LED source (x41) comprising an array of individually addressable actinic radiation emitters.
METHOD OF MANUFACTURING LATEX RUBBER ARTICLES
A method of manufacturing a latex rubber article comprises providing a former wherein at least a part of the former comprises a mould surface that forms the shape of the latex rubber article, and applying liquid latex to the mould surface using an applicator that is configured to apply the liquid latex to an applicator area that is smaller than the mould surface. The method further comprises providing relative movement between the applicator and the former to produce a latex coating that covers the mould surface, curing the latex coating on the former to form the latex rubber article, and removing the latex rubber article from the former.
Process for the preparation of metallic nano-particle layers and their use for decorative or security elements
The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of thin silver nano-particles containing layers, which are produced directly on a substrate as part of a coating or printing process. The layers can show different colours in transmittance and reflectance. The invention further relates to decorative and security elements. When the layers are applied over a security element, such as a hologram, the obtained products may show different colours in reflection and transmission, an extremely bright optically variable image (OVD image). Depending on the thickness of the layer a more or less intensive metallic aspect appears.
