Implantable Devices for Bone or Joint Defects

In one aspect, the invention provides an implantable device comprising a uniform mixture of components including degradable polymer, inorganic bone particulate either natural or synthetic, a drug, and a soluble microporagen. In some embodiments, the uniform mixture further includes a soluble polymer macroporagen. In some embodiments, the uniform mixture is coated with an immobilized outer porous layer comprising or consisting of synthetic or natural inorganic bone granules. In further aspects, the invention provides an implantable device comprising a composite core of degradable polymer, bone, and a drug, and a coating comprising or consisting of microporous bone overlayer covering the degradable composite core.

Methods, compositions and systems for enhancing the useful life of a transportation surface

Methods, compositions and systems for prolonging the lives of transportation surfaces, including pavement, runways, bridges and parking structures include physically altering the transportation surface and chemically protecting the transportation surfaces. Physical alteration of a transportation surface may include physically altering one or both of a microtexture and a macrotexture of the transportation surface. Chemical protection of a transportation surface may include hardening and/or densifying the transportation surface. The transportation surface may be chemically protected while physically altering the transportation surface or after the transportation surface has been physically altered.

Provided are a video display device and a method of operating the same. The method includes: executing an enhanced service playing application not dependent on any single channel; obtaining an uncompressed audio video (AV) content; playing the uncompressed AV content through the display unit; attempting to obtain contents information on the uncompressed AV content on the basis of a part of the uncompressed AV content; transmitting an enhanced service request message to an enhanced service providing server not dependent on any single channel by the enhanced service; receiving an enhanced service from the enhanced service providing server; and playing the enhanced service through the display unit by the enhanced service playing application.

Method of forming multilayer coating film made from natural material

Disclosed are a multilayer coating film made from a natural material and a method of producing the same. The multilayer coating film may be produced by forming a multilayer coating film through formation of a color coating film for providing adhesion and color to a cork on the cork material and a clear coating film for realizing texture and supplementing properties on the color coating film. As such, the multilayer coating film may be made from a natural material to diversify the color and gloss of cork as a natural material, to additionally increase marketability of an interior material and provide various appearance, to prevent discoloration due to light (e.g. UV light.) and water permeation, and to enhance durability against abrasion, scratches and the like.

COLOR CUSTOMIZATION OF ARTICLES

Method for forming a PVOH based barrier layer on a substrate
12138893 · 2024-11-12 · ·

There is provided a method for the production of a packaging material comprising a substrate and a gas barrier layer based on polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH), said method comprising the steps of applying a coating composition of said PVOH dissolved in a first solvent onto said substrate to form a coating subjecting the coating to a first drying step to form a dried PVOH-based coating on said substrate, contacting the dried PVOH-based coating with a crosslinking solution comprising a crosslinking agent in a second solvent, to effect crosslinking of the PVOH-based coating, and subsequent to the contact with the crosslinking solution, subjecting the PVOH-based coating to a second drying step, forming the PVOH-based barrier layer on said substrate, with the proviso that if the crosslinking solution comprises PVOH, the amount of PVOH added by the crosslinking solution is less than 20% (by weight), such as less than 10% (by weight), of the amount of PVOH added by the coating composition.

METHOD OF MANUFACTURING COMPOSITE FILM
