A variable pitch punch apparatus (1) for punching holes in material. The apparatus comprises a rotary punch head (2) comprising at least one punch member (4a-c) to punch at least one hole in a material at least one desired location. The apparatus (1) further comprises a die head (6) comprising at least one die (7) corresponding to said punch member (4a-c). The apparatus (1) further comprises an actuator for providing a selective relative speed difference between the material and the rotary punch head (2).

A mechanical spreader along a spreading axis, characterized in that it comprises a support (1) and two spreading plates (2), each spreading plate (2) comprising at least one bevel (3), and in that it also comprises a central rod (4) able to slide in said support (1) between the two spreading plates (2), said central rod (4) comprising a plurality of bevels (5) having a profile complementary to the bevels (3) of said spreading plates (2), the bevels (5) of said central rod (4) being in contact with the bevels (3) of said spreading plates (2), said spreader also comprising return means able to exert a return force on the spreading plates (2), means for pushing the central rod (4) and means for immobilizing the spreading plates (2) in planes perpendicular to said spreading axis.

A method for flame straightening is disclosed, wherein acetylene with oxygen is combusted by means of a burner to yield a flame, and the flame is directed onto a workpiece so as to heat the workpiece, wherein an electric field is applied between the burner and the non-melting workpiece which is electrically conductive, or the electric field is applied between the burner and a non-melting electrode arranged on the non-melting workpiece side to reduce NOx emission.

A method of producing a metal pipe which can suppress quenching defects is provided. In the method, a bend of the metal pipe is straightened by a straightening machine 10. Next, both pipe end portions of the metal pipe whose bend has been straightened are cut off by a pipe cutting apparatus 20. Next, a plurality of the metal pipes whose both pipe end portions have been cut off are aligned in the axial direction thereof to be conveyed to a quenching apparatus 30, and the metal pipes are quenched by being cooled after being heated by induction heating.

A rub rail repair tool includes a tool engaging element disposed on one longitudinal side of a flange. A working element is disposed on the other longitudinal side of the flange. The working element is shaped to define a maximum diameter dimension and a minimum diameter dimension. The maximum diameter dimension is substantially equal to a distance between an undamaged rub rail affixed to a lateral edge of a truck bed frame. At least one tool engaging feature is formed in the tool engaging element. The tool engaging feature enables coupling of a torque arm to the tool engaging element to enable rotation thereof about a longitudinal axis thereof by applying force to the torque arm.

A method of forming a flat bar is provided. A tube is provided having an inside surface and an outside surface. The outside surface of the tube can be clad with a nickel or stainless alloy material. A helix shaped strip can be cut from the tube. The helix shaped strip can be uncoiled to form an uncoiled strip, and the uncoiled strip can be straightened and flattened to meet mill standards.
