A drive system with full surface drive contact. The drive system tends to maximize the surface contact pattern or area at typical bit-recess reaction (drive) torque values, thereby tending to minimize bit-recess surface contact stresses, coating damage, recess ream and premature bit fatigue failure. The drive system comprises a fastener and/or bit having drive surfaces formed of either polygon involutes or a single arc construction. A punch is also provided for forming a recess in either the fastener or the bit, wherein the punch has corresponding surfaces.

A swaging device includes a top die and a bottom die that can move in a vertical direction between an open position and a closed position. Each die includes an inclined surface, and the device further includes swaging elements each having a complementary inclined surface that is in contact with the inclined surface of each die, both in the open position and in the closed position. The swaging elements are arranged opposite one another such that in at least any position other than the open position, they are in contact by certain non-inclined surfaces opposite the complementary inclined surfaces.

In order to provide simple constructional conditions it is proposed that the shafts (10) of the lifting drives (7) comprise two drive cams (11) which are angularly offset by 180 in relation to each other, are centrally symmetric with respect to the shaft axis, and cooperate with the abutments (12) of the forging rams (4).
