STEEL LADLE TAPER PLATE ASSEMBLIES
20210260648 · 2021-08-26 ·

Taper plate assemblies are disclosed that may be installed on the top of steel casting ladles to restrain and maintain refractory lining materials in compression during casting operations. The taper plate assemblies include a generally conical taper plate supported by a ring-shaped support flange and a support collar. The taper plate is located at least partially above a refractory top ring that may comprise a castable refractory material, and is designed to maintain the refractory top ring in compression during multiple casting operations.

Method of transferring molten metal

The invention relates to systems for transferring molten metal from one structure to another. Aspects of the invention include a transfer chamber constructed inside of or next to a vessel used to retain molten metal. The transfer chamber is in fluid communication with the vessel so molten metal from the vessel can enter the transfer chamber. A powered device, which may be inside of the transfer chamber, moves molten metal upward and out of the transfer chamber and preferably into a structure outside of the vessel, such as another vessel or a launder.

The present application relates to a bath transfer system with a vessel for receiving molten metal, a duct for conveying the molten metal from the vessel through the duct, a vessel cover for air-tightly sealing a vessel interior, and a tilting mechanism for tilting the vessel. The tilting mechanism includes at least one pedestal that is hingedly connected to the vessel, and a blocking device on the vessel for blocking the pedestal in a functional position, the pedestal being movable from a rest position into the functional position in which the pedestal extends beyond a bottom of the vessel.

A diffusion component for impregnating molten steel with a gas includes a barrier having a first side and a second side, a through-hole formed within the barrier, the through-hole connecting the first side to the second side, and a porous element arranged within the through-hole such that the flow of molten steel passes over the porous element. At least one flow disrupter is arranged relative to the porous element and configured to promote non-laminar flow of molten steel passing through the through-hole.

System for melting solid metal

A scrap melting system and method includes a vessel that is configured to retain molten metal and a raised surface about the level of molten metal in the vessel. Solid metal is placed on the raised surface and molten metal from the vessel is moved upward from the vessel and across the raised surface to melt at least some of the solid metal. The molten metal is preferably raised from the vessel to the raised surface by a molten metal pumping device or system. The molten metal moves from the raised surface and into a vessel or launder.

MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND MANAGEMENT METHOD

A management system includes: an acquisition unit acquiring melting information pertaining to original molten metal, for each of melting furnaces; a first assignment unit assigning a ladle serial number to a ladle receiving the original molten metal; a melting management unit associating a furnace number, the number of tappings from the one melting furnace, and the melting information on the one melting furnace with each other, and storing associated items; a ladle management unit associating the ladle serial number, the furnace number, and the number of tappings with each other, and storing associated items in a storage medium; and a pouring management unit associating an identifier of the mold with the ladle serial number, in response to the pouring device pouring the molten metal in the conveyed ladle into the mold, and storing associated items in the storage medium.

System and method to feed mold with molten metal

A system and method for filling a mold with molten aluminum includes a molten metal pump, a vessel configured to contain molten metal, a mold for receiving molten metal, and a conduit between the vessel and the mold. Molten metal is pumped in the vessel until it reaches a level at which it flows through the conduit and into the mold. The flow of molten metal into the mold is stabilized to maintain a level of molten metal in the mold. A skin of solid metal forms between the mold and the conduit, at which time the pumping of molten metal can cease. The mold with solid metal in it can be moved.
