A plasma computer numerically controlled (CNC) cutting machine is controlled by a computer such as a personal computer capable running an operating system and software programs. In an embodiment, the computer executes a CNC program to control movement of a plasma torch to cut parts from a workpiece while a spectrometer determines an emissions spectra of light emitted as the torch cuts the workpiece. The spectrometer cooperates with software running on a computer to analyze the metal as it is being cut by the CNC cutting machine and determine a composition. In embodiments, the composition is compared to an expected composition and saved in a database with identifying information; in a particular embodiment the database is queried to provide identifying information of metal having similar composition to the workpiece.

METHOD OF INSTALLING A FIXTURE AND ASSOCIATED APPARATUS

A method of installing a fixture or bracket in a fuselage structure of an aircraft or spacecraft. The method includes arranging an apparatus in, on or adjacent the structure, pre-treating a surface region of the structure by heat ablation using the apparatus and forming the fixture in situ on the structure at the pre-treated surface region using the apparatus based on a digital model of the fixture. The fixture is installed by connecting the fixture to the structure at the pre-treated surface region as the fixture is formed.

Cooling pipes, electrode holders and electrode for an arc plasma torch

An electrode holder for an arc plasma torch includes an elongate holder body. The holder body includes a holder end for receiving an electrode and a hollow interior. An internal thread is positioned in the hollow interior for screwing in a rear end of said cooling tube. A cylindrical inner surface adjoins the internal thread for centering the cooling tube relative to the electrode holder.

Plasma torch

The invention relates to a plasma torch, preferably to a plasma cutting torch, in which a plasma gas PG1 and/or PG2 flows through at least one feed through a housing of the plasma torch gas up to a nozzle opening. A hollow space connected to the feed(s) is also present within the housing and a valve which opens and closes an opening is arranged at the opening at said hollow space and a leading off of plasma gas PG1 and/or PG2 out of the feed(s) up to the nozzle opening can be achieved in the open state of this valve.
