Fish trap with buoy-activated net
10375940 · 2019-08-13 ·

The fish catching trap includes a substantially rigid round base having an open net surrounding it. A buoy or float is attached to the net by a line, the buoy being held stationary to an upper handle-like portion of the base using a nail or pin. The pin is attached to a string connected to fish bait placed in the bottom of the trap. When a fish disturbs or moves the bait, the string is pulled and the pin is released, allowing the buoy to quickly move upwards, closing the net surrounding the base and trapping any fish in the area. A second buoy serves as a visual indicator that the trap has been sprung.

The present invention is a hoop net comprised of netting mounted to two or more semicircular tubular rods, forming a ring that maintains its shape and structural integrity. The two semicircular tubular rods are fashioned to connect seamlessly by a fastening means that allows the entire assembly to function as intended. The hoop net assembly includes four stabilizing cords positioned equidistant from each other along the ring, which cords converge at the center of the hoop net assembly and are connected to each other by a fastening means, then further connected to a single draw cord. The draw cord is used to cast the assembled hoop net into water to a desired depth and pulled back into the boat with live bait. Once the hoop net assembly has been used, the metal rods are easily disconnected to facilitate folding the hoop net in half for easy storage and portability.

This invention relates to hand cast fishing apparatus which may support a conventional fishing reel to provide the benefits that a fishing reel provides combined with the simplicity and relative compactness of hand cast fishing apparatus. For this purpose the fishing apparatus provides a handpiece supporting a line guide for direct finger monitoring of the set fishing line and from which the line may be hand cast. The fishing reel of choice is attached to a mounting which extends from the handpiece and mounts to the user's forearm.

Seine net calibration target for image sensor

A seine net calibration target for an image sensor can include a given set of seine nets connected to form a polygon and another set of seine nets. Each seine net of the other set of seine nets is coupled to a vertex of the polygon at a given end and coupled to a respective one of a plurality of boats at another end. The seine net calibration target can also include a plurality of light sources arranged along a top edge of the given set of seine nets and the other set of seine nets. The plurality of light sources emits light at a predetermined wavelength.
