A polishing pad for polishing a surface, material for a polishing pad and a method for manufacturing material for a polishing pad. A polishing pad has a backing layer and a polishing layer made of sheep wool fibres fixed onto a surface of the backing layer, wherein the polishing layer has loops made of sheep wool fibres.

ABRASIVE DIAMOND GRAIN FOR WIRE TOOL AND WIRE TOOL
20180215074 · 2018-08-02 ·

Before bonding abrasive grain to a core wire, a palladium coating is applied to the surface of the abrasive grain. The palladium coating is formed as a sea on the surface of the diamond grains. In other words, the palladium coating covers the surface of the diamond grains so that the entirety thereof is continuous. Moreover, the palladium coating does not completely cover the diamond grains, and a diamond exposed portion is provided by the palladium coating not being applied on a portion thereof. The exposed diamond portion is formed as an island on the surface of the abrasive grain. In other words, a plurality of diamond exposed portions are formed as islands separated from each other.

THIN PLASTIC POLISHING ARTICLE FOR CMP APPLICATIONS

A method and apparatus for polishing a substrate that includes a polishing article comprising a polymeric sheet having a raised surface texture, which is formed on the surface of the polymeric sheet is provided. According to one or more implementations of the present disclosure, an advanced polishing article has been developed, which does not require abrasive pad conditioning. In some implementations of the present disclosure, the advanced polishing article comprises a polymeric sheet having a polishing surface with a raised surface texture or micro-features and/or a plurality of grooves or macro-features formed in the polishing surface. In some implementations, the raised surface texture is embossed, etched, machined or otherwise formed in the polishing surface prior to installing and using the advanced polishing article in a polishing system. In one implementation, the raised features have a height within one order of magnitude of the features removed from the substrate during polishing.

A floor polishing or grinding pad assembly is provided. In one aspect, a polishing or grinding pad assembly employs a fibrous pad, a reinforcement layer or ring, and multiple floor-contacting disks. In another aspect, the reinforcement layer includes a central hole through which the fibrous pad is accessible and the fibrous pad at the hole has a linear dimension (x) greater than a linear dimension (y) of one side of the adjacent reinforcement layer. In yet another aspect, at least one of the floor-contacting disks has an angle () offset from that of a base surface of the disk, the fibrous pad and/or the reinforcement layer. A further aspect employs a smaller set of disks alternating between and/or offset from a larger set of the disks. In another aspect, the reinforcement layer includes a wavy or undulating internal edge shape.

METHOD FOR POLISHING SPECTACLE LENS AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SPECTACLE LENS

A method for polishing a spectacle lens including a step of preparing a polishing pad provided with a flocking polishing sheet having a flocking part and abrasive grains that are attached to a surface of the flocking part on a polishing surface that comes into contact with a surface to be polished of a resin spectacle lens and a step of polishing the surface to be polished by bringing the surface to be polished into contact with the polishing surface by applying pressure and relatively moving the polishing pad and the spectacle lens while supplying a coolant to the polishing surface.

Sanding element and method for manufacturing a sanding element
12122018 · 2024-10-22 · ·

Disc-shaped sanding element (1) and method for manufacturing this sanding element (1) with a circular circumference with at least two layers (4,5,6) bonded to each other containing abrasive grains (11, 12), wherein these layers (4,5,6) extend at least to the circumference of the sanding element (1) in order to form a sanding edge (8) on this circumference (7), wherein each of these layers (4,5,6) has layer properties including compressibility, abrasive grain density, abrasive grain size and grain material. The layers (4,5,6) contain a three-dimensional thread or fibre structure in which said abrasive grains (11,12) are distributed, wherein adjacent layers (4,5,6) have at least one different layer property.

Conformable abrasive article

The present disclosure provides abrasive articles that include an abrasive layer having a contact surface, a first layer coupled to the abrasive layer, and a second layer coupled to the first layer. The first layer is configured to provide contact pressure to the abrasive layer, such as through a higher hardness than the second layer. The second layer is configured to provide conformability to the abrasive layer, such as through a higher compressibility than the first layer. The resulting abrasive articles may exert a consistent contact pressure against a substrate with increased conformability around the substrate, reduced hysteresis, improved removal rate consistency, and/or improved lifetime over abrasive articles that do not use the multiple layer construction described above.
