The wire has a first twisted area adjacent to the upper end and a second twisted area adjacent to the second end. A hook is attached to the lower end and comprises a treble hook.

After the drone is launched the operator of the handheld piece deploys a hook stowed in the drone that descends into the water. Although the present invention is most suitable for fishing it will be readily apparent that there are several other important fields of use where this invention may be beneficial by substituting the hook with other components.

A band may be included, circumferentially encircling the hook, slidably movable from first to second band positions. When in the first band position, each barb is held in a slot by the band. When in the second band position, each barb is urged by the spring into its second barb position. Fixed barbs may also be included.
