The present disclosure is directed to methods and apparatuses for embedding a scent in a fishing lure. In a general example embodiment, a device for adding a scent to a fishing lure includes a body including an inner space configured to be isolated from an outside environment and a container for a scented liquid, an attachment mechanism configured to suspend the fishing lure within the inner space of the body, a heating mechanism configured to raise the temperature of the scented liquid to create steam, and a control unit configured to cause at least one of: (i) a pressurization mechanism to increase pressure within the inner space to cause the steam to add a scent to the fishing lure; or (ii) a charge to be applied to the fishing lure to cause the steam to add the scent to the fishing lure.

An artificial lure for fishing has a base body made from a floatable material and imitating a bait fish, at which at least one fishing hook is attached. In the head region of the base body, fastening eyelets for connection to a fishing line or a leader and a protrusion are provided. In the used state of the artificial lure in the water, the protrusion is configured diagonally upwards, and the fastening eyelet is situated below the protrusion. Preferably, a weighted insert for specifying the buoyancy and stabilizing the position in the water is provided in the base body. Furthermore, a system made up of such an artificial lure also includes a ground weight and a fishing line connected to a fishing rod.

A fish hook includes a breakaway clip that initially disables a universal pivot joint. When a fish is hooked, if a pivot force on the universal pivot joint exceeds a predetermined pivot force, the breakaway clip is detached from the hook thereby enabling the universal pivot joint. The resulting amount of force on the hook shaft is reduced by reducing the size of the lever arm, which thereby reduces the likelihood that the hook will be detached from the fish.

A fish hook includes a breakaway clip that initially disables a universal pivot joint. When a fish is hooked, if a pivot force on the universal pivot joint exceeds a predetermined pivot force, the breakaway clip is detached from the hook thereby enabling the universal pivot joint. The resulting amount of force on the hook shaft is reduced by reducing the size of the lever arm, which thereby reduces the likelihood that the hook will be detached from the fish.

A device for removing a barbed fish hook from the mouth of a fish. The device consists of a support base for holding snippets used to disable the effectiveness of a fish hook barb. When a fish hook barb is disable the fish hook may be readily removed from the fish without further harm to the fish.

A method for forming a system for securing items such as fishing hooks is disclosed. The method may include molding an elastomeric material to include a slit therein. Once formed, the elastomeric material may be compressed across the slit in order to reduce the width of the slit. While held in a compressed state, an item such as a fishing hook may be inserted into the slit. The compression may enable the slit to securely grip the item.

A method for forming a system for securing items such as fishing hooks is disclosed. The method may include molding an elastomeric material to include a slit therein. Once formed, the elastomeric material may be compressed across the slit in order to reduce the width of the slit. While held in a compressed state, an item such as a fishing hook may be inserted into the slit. The compression may enable the slit to securely grip the item.

A fishing weight (100) that includes an oblong body (104), for instance in the shape of a football. A passage (116) extends through the oblong body (104) to allow fishing line (140) to extend through the passage (116). The passage (116) is positioned so that the fishing line (140) pulls the fishing weight (100) in a sideways orientation through the water. In one embodiment, the passage (116) proceeds other than linearly through the oblong body (104) of the fishing weight (100).

An apparatus for releasing a fish into deep water, comprising a central member having an upper end portion and a lower end portion, a spiral member attached to the central member, the spiral member being spaced away from the central member and having a free end, a plurality of swivels, wherein one of the swivels can be connected the upper end portion of the central member and another of said swivels can be connected to the lower end portion of the central member, and a weight connected to the lower swivel. The device can further provide a weight on the central member that overcomes buoyancy of the fish.

An apparatus for releasing a fish into deep water, comprising a central member having an upper end portion and a lower end portion, a spiral member attached to the central member, the spiral member being spaced away from the central member and having a free end, a plurality of swivels, wherein one of the swivels can be connected the upper end portion of the central member and another of said swivels can be connected to the lower end portion of the central member, and a weight connected to the lower swivel. The device can further provide a weight on the central member that overcomes buoyancy of the fish.
