Cutting apparatus and method
In a cutting apparatus a rotating carousel conveys caps made of synthetic plastic material to a fixed blade having the shape of a circumferential arc. The caps are rotated about themselves by spindles. The blade cuts an annular weakening line to form the tamperproof ring of the cap. The carousel has an emitter and a laser receiver that cooperate to detect the presence or absence of the cutting edge of the fixed blade. The apparatus ensures good cutting quality.
CONDUIT CUTTING ASSEMBLY
A conduit cutting assembly is comprised of a conduit cutting surface, a drive shaft, a top shield and a bottom guide. The conduit cutting assembly is inserted into a rotary device which provides a torque to rotate the conduit cutting assembly. The shield glides along the top surface of the conduit preventing deeper penetration of the cutting surface and deflecting dust as conduit is cut. The guide is positioned on the internal side of the conduit and prevents the cutting surface from contacting encased wiring. The distance between the bottom surface of the shield and the top surface of the guide is closely aligned to the conduit wall thickness. Conduit cutting assemblies can be customized for conduit material and conduit wall thickness. The conduit cutting assembly safely cuts through conduit without damaging encased wiring, limits incidental contact with the cutting surface, and limits contact with dust generated through the cutting procedure.
Facer for end fusion of polyolefin pipes
A facer facing the ends of polyolefin pipes for butt fusion is modular in the sense that it employs three types of modules, a drive unit, two blade holders and a motor assembly, that are separable from one another and each independently light enough to be hand-lifted along walls and up to ceilings. The drive unit module is adjustable to accommodate different guide rail spacings. The blade holder modules are interchangeable to accommodate different diameters of pipe. The motor assembly module has multispeed capability to accommodate the total area of material to be faced. Each module can be exchanged or modified without use of tools to change the geometry of the assembled facer to accommodate different fusion machines and/or diameters of pipe within working spaces dictated by the diameter of the pipe and not by a fixed geometry of a facer.
Cross-cut stabilizer used in horizontal, form, fill, and seal packaging machines
Disclosed is a cross-cut stabilizer. The stabilizer prevents uncontrollable movement of the existing cross-cut stations, which are used in packaging machines to make long cuts designed to separate a strip of multiple, pre-packaged products from the rest of the packaging film. The movement created by the machine's vibration, causes the cutting blocks, along with the blades making the cross-cuts, to move unpredictably. The movement is compounded by the rack and pinion system which supports the cutting blocks of the cross-cut station. The cross-cut stabilizer, incorporates a mounting base, which holds pushing combs and manual clamps. The stabilizer is mounted inside the cross-cut station, allowing the pushing combs to straddle the existing cutting blocks. The pushing combs enable unison, manual adjustment of the cross-cut station with the cross-cut stabilizer. By using clamps, the pushing combs urge down on the cutting blocks of the cross-cut station, eliminating any movement of the station.
System and method for manufacturing a bag for medical purposes
The aim of the invention is to avoid the risk of contamination of a bag for medical purposes, in particular to significantly reduce the amount of residual particles of material during the cutting of a tube for access to the bag. The invention proposes a system (1) for producing a bag for medical purposes comprising a tube transfer station (2) having transfer means (3) for transferring a tube (11), which is being transported towards the tube transfer station (2), to a holder (10) and for separating there a tube section (17) transferred to the holder (10) from a remainder (18) of the tube (11), in order to then render the separated tube section (17) connectible to two film layers to form an access to the bag. The tube transfer station (2) comprises at least one air nozzle (55, 57), and an effective area (58) of the at least one air nozzle (55, 57) is directed onto a designated location (20) for separation such that a forced air flow (56) in the designated location (20) forced by air blown out and/or drawn in can be adjusted for separation.
Food product cutting apparatus having user-selectable horizontal and vertical mounts that provide the same cutting thrust axis orientation
A food product cutting apparatus having a cutting thrust axis and that includes a chassis designed to allow a user to mount, at the user's choice, the cutting apparatus on a horizontal surface and a vertical surface. The food product cutting apparatus includes a set of horizontal-mounting features designed and configured to secure the chassis of the cutting apparatus to mounting base on a horizontal surface, and a set of vertical-mounting features designed and configured to secure the chassis of the cutting apparatus to a mounting base on a vertical surface. The sets of horizontal and vertical-mounting features are located and configured on the chassis so that the cutting thrust axis has the same orientation relative to its environment regardless of which set of mounting features are employed.
Swivel knife holder assembly for a multi-ply reciprocating cutter
The swivel knife holder assembly includes a shoulder screw defining an axis, and having a proximal threaded end and a distal head, and mounted on the shoulder screw is a bobbin assembly. The swivel knife holder assembly also includes a shell defining an interior, and having a distal opening and a proximal opening. A core is secured in the interior and is coupled to a knife for cutting fabric material. The proximal opening of the shell is defined by a flange and houses the shoulder screw therein. Threadably coupled to the proximal threaded end of the shoulder screw is a stem. The stem secures the bobbin assembly within the shell and also includes a mounting surface for engaging a reciprocating drive mechanism.

Creasing device and corresponding method
A creasing device for a work unit of a machine for at least creasing and possibly cutting a sheet made of a relatively rigid material, such as corrugated cardboard for packaging, fed in a predetermined work direction, includes a first creasing member mounted rotatable with its first axis of rotation transverse to the work direction, and a pre-creasing system disposed upstream of the first creasing member in the work direction, and configured to carry out a pre-creasing which progressively deforms the material of the sheet to be worked before it is subjected to a creasing operation.
