SUBMICRON PARTICLE COMPOSITIONS
Disclosed is a method of preparing compositions comprising submicron particles of a metal salt. The method comprises providing an aqueous alkaline solution comprising a metal, one or more ligand that forms a soluble complex with the metal under alkaline conditions, and optionally one or more dispersant; and admixing the solution and a source of carbon dioxide to reduce the pH of the solution such that submicron particles of a metal salt precipitate. Also disclosed are compositions prepared by the method. Also disclosed is a method of treating a substrate, such as lumber, comprising applying the compositions and substrates treated by the method.
RECONSTITUTED WOOD PANEL WITH NATURAL WOOD GRAIN AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF
The present invention relates to a reconstituted wood panel, and more particularly to a reconstituted wood panel with natural wood grain and manufacturing method thereof. The reconstituted wood panel with natural wood grain of the present invention is manufactured by peeling or slicing the logs to obtain veneers with thickness of 320 mm, and then impregnating with adhesive and hot pressing. The compression ratio is 10%, and the density is 0.71.3 g/cm3, and the thickness swelling rate is 3.0% and the internal bonding strength is 3.0 MPa. By comparing the sawn wood board of the same tree species, the density of the reconstituted wood panel with natural wood grain is increased by 10% or more, and the thickness swelling rate is reduced by 20% or more, and the internal bonding strength has a growth of 35% or more. The panel of the present invention is manufactured by firstly peeling or slicing to obtain thick veneer(s) with splitting injury, and then impregnating with the adhesive to repair splits of veneers. The panel has advantages of good toughness, high strength, good dimensional stability, low sawline wastage, and short drying time, high production efficiency, low energy consumption and being environmentally friendly.
NON-FLAMMABLE COMPOSITIONS
A non-flammable composition is formulated to include ceramic powder, graphite, mica and ZrO.sub.2. The non-flammable composition is capable of being applied to an external surface of an item, or may be incorporated into the substrate material used to form an item prior to the item's manufacture. The non-flammable composition provides both fire-resistance and fire-retardant properties to the items that are treated thereby.
Method for making nano veneer
A process for producing nano veneers generally involving: placing a veneer to be treated in a vacuum vessel; adding a nano carbon powder and nano silicon dioxide suspension in the vacuum vessel; reducing the pressure in the vessel over a first period of time; increasing the pressure in the vessel; letting the contents of the vessel rest over a second period of time. The veneer may optionally be subjected to ultrasonic treatment, ultraviolet solidification treatment, or subsequent pressurization treatments to obtain the final nano veneer product. As a result, veneer manufactured using embodiments of the present invention will have the advantages of high strength, wear resistance, pollution resistance, acid and alkali resistance, water segregation and decay resistance.
Treated porous material
A treated cellulosic material comprising a cellulosic material having a porous structure defining a plurality of pores, at least a portion of the pores containing a treating agent comprising a polymer comprising a modified cellulose polymer; and a modifying agent comprising a hydrophobic amine, a metal ion, or a quat. The present disclosure further describes a method for preparing a treated cellulosic material comprising (a) providing a cellulosic material; (b) a first treatment protocol comprising impregnating the cellulosic material with a dispersion comprising a polymer, the polymer comprising a modified cellulose polymer; and (c) a second treatment protocol comprising impregnating the cellulosic material with a modifying agent, the modifying agent comprising a hydrophobic amine, a metal ion, or a quat.
Coloration of acetylated wood
Techniques and products are described for coloring acetylated wood products. An acetylated wood product can be impregnated by a coloring medium within a chamber and the colorant or colorants contained within the coloring medium can be fixed to the acetylated wood product by the application of heat or by application of radio frequency radiation to color any external surface or interior region of the acetylated wood product which has been impregnated by the coloring medium.
Zinc and Boron Containing Enhanced Wood Preservative
A wood preservative composition and a method of manufacturing a wood preservative composition that includes a copper containing biocide, a zinc containing biocide, a boron containing biocide, and an azole are provided. The wood preservative composition exhibits improved biocidal efficacy against copper tolerant fungi.
Kit of parts for staining wooden substrates
A kit of parts is provided, comprising: in one part a) a water-borne stain; and, in another part b) a water-immiscible organic solvent-borne stain, wherein said water-borne stain is essentially free of resin and further contains at least one water-miscible organic solvent. Additionally, a method of coloring a wooden substrate is described, comprising the steps of: a) applying a water-borne stain to a surface of the wooden substrate, wherein the water-borne stain is essentially free of resin and comprises at least one water-miscible organic solvent; and thereafter b) applying a water-immiscible organic solvent-borne stain to said surface.
WOOD PIGMENT COMPOSITIONS AND WOOD TREATMENT PROCESSES
Disclosed herein are compositions and methods for treating wood to give it a desirable color that is durable over time, while at the same time rendering the wood resistant to fungal decay and insect attack. The wood may be pressure treated in a two-step process whereby the wood is first treated with a wood preservation composition, and then treated with a composition comprising pigments, or vice versa. Alternatively, the wood may be simultaneously treated with a composition comprising a wood preservative and a composition comprising pigments.
Microemulsions and their use in metal working fluids, wood stains, or wood sealers
The present disclosure is directed to compositions including a microemulsion comprising a blend of lecithin, a co-surfactant, and a salt of an acidifier, an ester of an acidifier, or combinations thereof. Uses of the compositions are also disclosed.
