System and method of making wood curls
A system and method are provided for producing wood curls with reliable consistency and resiliency. Moisture content of wood blocks is determined and a plurality of cutting knives are installed on a disc of a curling machine and set to extend about 0.012 inches from the face of the disc. The wood blocks are fed through the curling machine and the feed rate is set based on the moisture content of the blocks and the sharpness of the cutting knives and readjusted based on the resiliency of previously cut curls in order to produce wood curls of a desired resilience.
Apparatus and method for processing logs
An apparatus for processing logs includes a conveyor for conveying a log in the apparatus, a chipping canter, which comprises two chipping head assemblies for chipping the opposite sides of a log, and a saw, which comprises at least two circular blades for sawing the log on at least one side. The chipping head assemblies are installed on different shafts than the circular blades. The circular blades of a saw are situated before the chipping canter in the conveying direction of a log and are arranged to, before chipping, partly or completely saw off from the log the parts of the log that are to be chipped with the chipping head assemblies.
Axial adjustment apparatus for chipper disc
An apparatus, system and method for adjusting and setting a fixed position of an axially displaceable shaft and rotary chipper disc combination, without requiring an attachment to or obstruction of an end face of either end of the axially displaceable shaft. A rotary chipper disc recoil mechanism is also provided for the purpose of detection of unwanted axial forces placed upon the rotating shaft caused by unintentional chipping of metal, and for limiting consequential damage caused by the unintentional chipping of metal and other non-wood materials.
System of Chipper Knives and Knife Stops
A disc chipper has thick double-edged chipper blades clamped in rectangular pockets between a knife segment and a knife clamp which are connected to a chipper disc. The blades are precisely positioned for cutting by knife stops selected from a set of knife stops of incremental modular widths. A different width knife stop is used to position the chipper knife blades each time it is sharpened. After each sharpening the knife blade has a selected width which is smaller by a constant incremental value, and it is assembled with a mating knife stop from the set so that the blade edge position remains unchanged.
CHAIN FLAIL DEBARKING APPARATUS WITH MOVEABLE FLAIL ASSEMBLY
A chain flail debarking apparatus including a flail chamber accommodating at least first and second rotatable flail shafts being supported on a movable flail assembly framework, and both of the first and second rotatable flail shafts having a plurality of chains, a disc chipper for receiving the debarked logs and trees from the flail chamber and generating wood chips having a desired shape and size, and a single drive for driving both the disc chipper and at least the first and second rotatable flail shafts in the flail chamber. A pivotable feed roller is located adjacent an inlet to the flail chamber for sensing a diameter of the logs and trees to be debarked and moving the movable flail assembly framework, relative to the base frame, so as to maintain the logs and trees being debarked in the flail chamber, substantially centered with respect to both the first and second rotatable flail shafts so that both upwardly and downwardly facing surfaces of the logs and trees being debarked are substantially equally treated.
Waste processing machine safety device
A waste processing machine for reducing waste material and having a safety device for shearing lines. A housing defines a cutting chamber and an intake opening in communication with the cutting chamber for receiving waste material. A disc is disposed in the cutting chamber, rotates about an axis, and has an axial surface facing the intake opening. A cutting member is fixed to the disc for revolution about the axis concurrent with rotation of the disc for reducing waste material. A cutting anvil is coupled to the housing adjacent to the intake opening and faces the axial surface of the disc for reducing waste material between the cutting anvil and the cutting member. A line shear element is attached to the housing, extends into the cutting chamber toward the axial surface of the disc, and is spaced from the cutting anvil for shearing lines caught by the rotating disc.

Triple-mode system for antibody maturation, surface display and secretion
The present invention provides a triple-mode antibody display system that simultaneously matures, displays and secretes an antibody to a target of interest. An antibody in vivo-matured and complexed with membrane anchored bait can be expressed on the surface of the host cell, while complexed with a soluble bait the antibody is secreted from the host cell. Methods of using the system for identifying binders that bind specifically to an antigen of interest are also provided. Polypeptides, polynucleotides and host cells useful for making the protein binder display system are also provided along with methods of use thereof.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PRODUCING WOOD SHAVINGS
A method for producing wood chips for the production of chipboards includes a material supply unit in at least one first carrying structure, a first mechanical sorting unit for the material to be comminuted in at least one second carrying structure, a material comminuting unit in at least one third carrying structure, a second mechanical sorting unit for the comminuted material in at least one fourth carrying structure, and
wherein the first, second, third, and fourth carrying structures are each arranged to be semi-mobile on a foundation and/or on a supporting structure and interconnected, wherein the supplied material is conveyed from the material supply unit through a first material-carrying line to the first mechanical sorting unit and is sorted from the first mechanical sorting unit through a second material-carrying line to the material comminution unit and is comminuted to form wood chips, and is supplied through a third material-carrying line to the second mechanical sorting unit.
Disc chipper for crushing lumpy feed material, particularly wood
A disc chipper for crushing lumpy feed material. The disc chipper has a crushing rotor driven by a drive unit, rotating about an axle, including a rotor shaft and a chipping disc connected in a rotationally fixed manner with the rotor shaft. The chipping disc has chipping knives, which are transversely aligned in the disc plane to the rotational direction and which cooperate with stationary counter knives for the comminution of the feed material. In order to ensure a secure and accurate fastening of the chipping disc on the rotor shaft and to thereby conduct the driving force from the rotor shaft to the chipping disc without damage, the rotor shaft in the region of the bearing seat for the chipping disc has a polygonal cross section and the chipping disc has a centric through-hole form-locking thereto.
