20180010337 · 2018-01-11 ·

A module for a paving or building system includes at least one block of concrete and a sheet, e.g., sheet metal, having a surface area abutting the block or blocks. The sheet includes multiple openings and one or more flaps of material from one or more from the openings may be bent or otherwise shaped to extend into a concrete block and anchor the sheet to the concrete block.

CARRIER WITH LOCALIZED FIBROUS INSERT AND METHODS
20230002965 · 2023-01-05 ·

A structural reinforcement for an article including a carrier that includes: (i) a mass of polymeric material having an outer surface; and (is) at least one consolidated fibrous insert having an outer surface and including at least one elongated fiber arrangement having a plurality of ordered fibers arranged in a predetermined manner. The fibrous insert is envisioned to adjoin the mass of the polymeric material in a predetermined location for carrying a predetermined load that is subjected upon the predetermined location (thereby effectively providing localized reinforcement to that predetermined location). The fibrous insert and the mass of polymeric material are of compatible materials, structures or both, for allowing the fibrous insert to be at least partially joined to the mass of the polymeric material. Disposed upon at least a portion of the carrier will be a mass of activatable material.

APPARATUS FOR MANUFACTURING COMPOSITE AIRFOILS

The present disclosure is directed to an apparatus for manufacturing a composite component. The apparatus includes a mold onto which the composite component is formed. The mold is disposed within a grid defined by a first axis and a second axis. The apparatus further includes a first frame assembly disposed above the mold, and a plurality of printheads coupled to the first frame assembly within the grid in an adjacent arrangement along the first axis. At least one of the mold or the plurality of printheads is moveable along the first axis, the second axis, or both. At least one of the printheads of the plurality of printheads is moveable independently of one another along a third axis.

Surface covering product, a method for making a surface covering, and a series of surface covering tiles

The invention provides a surface covering product, in particular a floor covering product, comprising boundary walls defining a lower face which in use faces a surface to be covered, said boundary walls having an upper face extending up to 60 cm from said lower face, said boundary walls dividing a part of said surface to be covered into at least partially enclosed surface parts and providing a boundary for at least one filling composition in said at least partially enclosed surface parts, wherein said surface covering product further comprises a base web having said boundary walls coupled to said base web for holding said boundary walls in position, and said base web comprises an upper surface below said upper face of said boundary walls, and a lower surface which in use rests on said surface to be covered, said boundary walls are coupled on top of said base web, and in use said filling composition covers said base web and at least part of said boundary walls, and wherein at least said boundary walls are formed in a three-dimensional (3D) printing process.

Apparatus for packaging an item

A system and process of printing a package of expanded material (e.g., expanded starch, foam or other expanded material). The expanded material can be heated and extruded, poured, sprayed, or otherwise applied in malleable form that sets up to become a porous protective covering for an item to be packaged. In an example, a layer of expanded material is laid down, and the item in a protective covering (e.g., a plastic bag, sleeve, coating, etc.) is positioned on the layer of expanded material. Additional layers or expanded material may be applied, thereby encasing the item. The top surface of the expanded material may be flattened, such as by operation of a roller, press, or cutter. The top surface may be sprayed with a shellac sealant, paint, or other coating, to allow printing of a label on the top surface.

Systems and methods for in situ manufacturing of minimally tooled stringers
11565460 · 2023-01-31 · ·

Provided are systems and apparatuses for manufacturing aircraft support structures. An example robotic end effector comprises a rotatable reel with a flat strip of material wound around the reel. The end effector further includes a forming shoe including a forming surface contacting the strip of material. A first end of the forming surface corresponds to a start shape and a second end of the forming surface corresponds to an end shape. As the strip of material passes from the first end of the forming surface to the second end of the forming surface, the strip of material transitions from the first shape to the end shape and is deposited as a formed stringer ply onto an application surface. The forming shoe may further include a vacuum system to suction air through a plurality of ports along the forming surface to urge the strip of material against the forming surface.
