Composite component

The invention relates to a composite component that has improved bonding properties and includes a substrate (i) made of a thermoplastic polymer blend composition, and a coating (ii); in a layer located 5 to 10 μm below the boundary surface between the substrate (i) and the coating (ii), the substrate (i) has a dispersed, non-lamellar phase structure. The invention also relates to a method for manufacturing the composite component.

Component with integrated sensor chip

A vehicle trim assembly includes a first trim component having an interior facing surface and an exterior facing surface, the first trim component including an extended portion, a second trim component including an edge defining a groove configured to engage with the extended portion of the first trim component, and a single chip sensor overmolded with the second trim component such that the single chip sensor is integrated into the second trim component. The single chip sensor is formed with the second trim component in a multi-shot injection molding process.

Polycarbonate sheet press-formed body production method

A method for producing a press-molded body of a polycarbonate sheet including resin layers (A) and (B) respectively containing a polycarbonate resin, and a high hardness resin (B) and a hard coat layer (C) sequentially stacked on at least one surface of the resin layer (A). The method includes pre-heating the polycarbonate sheet to a temperature between a glass transition point of the resin layer (A)−45° C. or higher and the glass transition point or lower; locating the pre-heated polycarbonate sheet between an upper and lower die of a mold, wherein a time period after the pre-heating is finished until the polycarbonate sheet is located between the upper and lower die of the mold is 90 seconds or shorter; and clamping the mold to press the upper and lower die to obtain the press-molded body of the polycarbonate sheet.

Ways of preparing a partially crystalline polycarbonate powder are provided that include dissolving an amorphous polycarbonate in a polar aprotic solvent to form a first solution of solubilized polycarbonate at a first temperature. The first solution is then cooled to a second temperature, the second temperature being lower than the first temperature, where a portion of the solubilized polycarbonate precipitates from the first solution to form a second solution including the partially crystalline polycarbonate powder. Certain partially crystalline polycarbonate powders resulting from such methods are particularly useful in additive manufacturing processes, including powder bed fusion processes.

DRAWN POLYMER FIBERS FOR USE IN THERMAL APPLICATIONS

Drawn polymer fibers have internal channels running, at least partially, through the length of the fibers. These fibers may be configured to for use as thermal isolators that can thermally isolate material at the central core of the fiber from the outside environment. In such instances, the channels may be used as insulating channels and/or a heating or cooling fluid can be pumped through the channels to maintain the temperature of the material at the inner core. As another application, the fibers may be used as recuperative, regenerative, parallel-flow, counter-flow, cross-flow or condenser/evaporator heat exchangers. In this case, the channels may be used to direct fluid flow. The fiber may allow for the exchange of heat between fluids in the channels.
