GENERATORS FOR 1-METHYLCYCLOPROPENE RELEASE FROM CARRIER COMPLEX
Providing a method for generating and releasing 1-MCP gas from a complex carrier through the use of a 1-MCP generator that enables the application of at least one physical, releasing force to a carrier complex and/or mixture comprising water and the carrier complex, or the interaction of steam with a carrier complex and/or mixture comprising water and the carrier complex, over a determined period of time.

SPRAY OIL AND METHOD OF USE THEROF FOR CONTROLLING TURFGRASS PESTS
A paraffinic spray oil and a method of using the spray oil for controlling turfgrass pests is disclosed. The spray oil comprises paraffinic oil and a quick break emulsifier, which is formulated as an oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion for use. The paraffinic oil and emulsifier are present in a weight ratio ranging from about 95:5 to about 99.95:0.05, and preferably from about 98.5:1.5 to about 99.9:0.1. When applied to turfgrass, the O/W emulsion quickly releases the oil phase upon application to the turfgrass to contact pests thereon. When provided at sufficient paraffinic oil dosages, generally at least about 0.5 gal oil/acre and preferably in the range of about 0.5 gal/acre to about 60 gal/acre, the spray oil is effective in controlling a variety of turfgrass pests, particularly insect and fungal pests, with little or no phytotoxic effects. Further, use of the spray oil as indicated for controlling turfgrass pests also enhances the growth of turfgrass.

SUSTAINED RELEASE PHEROMONE PREPARATION
Provided is a sustained release pheromone preparation used for the control of insect pest, which can maintain a high release rate of a pheromone substance during the control period of the insect pest which has, as the pheromone substance, a C.sub.20-35 aliphatic hydrocarbon compound having such a melting point that the aliphatic hydrocarbon is in a solid form at normal temperature. More specifically, provided is a sustained release pheromone preparation comprising a membrane of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, and a C.sub.20-35 aliphatic hydrocarbon compound which is carried by the membrane, is permeable through the membrane, and has such a melting point that the aliphatic hydrocarbon compound is in a solid form at normal temperature, wherein the preparation targets an insect pest having the aliphatic hydrocarbon compound as a pheromone substance.
