Method for infusing a gas into a thermoplastic material, and related systems
09914247 · 2018-03-13 · ·

A method for infusing gas into a thermoplastic material includes positioning a sheet of a thermoplastic material into a vertical or substantially vertical position; positioning a sheet of a gas-permeable material into a vertical or substantially vertical position; and winding together the positioned sheet of thermoplastic material sheet and the positioned sheet of gas-permeable material to form a roll of the thermoplastic material interleaved with the gas-permeable material, the interleaved roll having a longitudinal axis oriented in a vertical or substantially vertical position. The method also includes exposing the interleaved roll to an atmosphere of a gas pressurized to infuse the thermoplastic material with the gas, while the longitudinal axis of the interleaved roll is oriented in a vertical or substantially vertical position; and then unwinding the gas-infused interleaved roll, while the longitudinal axis of the interleaved roll remains in a vertical or substantially vertical position.

METHOD FOR APPLYING PATCHES TO HELMET COVERS
20180050506 · 2018-02-22 ·

A template made of plywood or similar material is inserted into a cover for a protective helmet so that the cover is stretched and once the template is inserted the assembled combination of the cover and the template resembles the shape of a disk. The disk-shaped assembly is placed on top of the bottom plate of a heat press. A layer with a decal or sticker is placed on top of the disk-shaped assembly. A heat press cover sheet is then placed on top of the disk-shaped assembly so that it also becomes into contact with the top plate of the heat press when the heat press is closed. The heat press may be set to a temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit and it can be set in a closed position for about 30 seconds in order to transfer sufficient heat so that the decal or sticker is applied or affixed to the cover surface.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR FABRICATING ELASTOMER-BASED ELECTRONIC DEVICES AND DEVICES FORMED THEREBY
20180029290 · 2018-02-01 ·

Methods and systems suitable for fabricating multi-layer elastic electronic devices, and elastic electronic devices formed thereby. A method of fabricating an elastomer-based electronic device includes printing a first liquid material and then a second liquid material on a fabric substrate that comprises fibers. The first and second liquid materials are sequentially printed with a three-dimensional printer that directly prints the first liquid material onto the fabric substrate so that the first liquid material wicks through some of the fibers of the fabric substrate and forms a solid matrix of an elastomer-based composite that comprises the matrix and the fabric substrate, after which the three-dimensional printer directly prints the second liquid material on the elastomer-based composite to form a film thereon. The elastomer-based composite and film are electrical components of the elastomer-based electronic device.

PROCESS FOR FORMING A DIVIDED CONDUIT
20170225377 · 2017-08-10 ·

A method of producing a divided conduit containing, in order forming a strip-shaped textile having a first longitudinal edge and a second longitudinal edge, extruding a molten thermoplastic polymer into the form of an at least partially molten conduit having an inner surface and an outer surface, and placing at least one strip-shaped substrate within the at least partially molten conduit during or directly after conduit formation such that the first longitudinal and second longitudinal edges of the strip-shaped substrate embed into the inner surface of the conduit. The strip-shaped textile is selected from the group consisting of a woven, non-woven, and knit and the strip-shaped textile is air permeable. The inner surface and outer surface of the conduit is continuous.

TEXTILE CLOTHING ITEM WITH AT LEAST ONE ABRASION PROTECTION ZONE PROVIDED WITH PROTECTOR ELEMENTS AND A PROCESS FOR ITS PRODUCTION
20170208882 · 2017-07-27 · ·

In a process for the production of a textile clothing item with at least one abrasion protection zone provided with protector elements, the following steps are provided: 1) Provision of a textile backing layer (1) that is expandable and is provided in the form of a tube open on both sides (1), into which a support element (2) is introduced before the application of the coating material (5), by means of which the tube (1) is pre-extended and stretched free of wrinkles in the abrasion protection zones provided. 2) Provision of a pasty, hardenable coating material (5); 3) Application of a large number of portions of the coating material (5) on a surface of the backing layer for the formation of the protector elements, whereby the portions of the coating material (5) are arranged on the surface in such a way that the portions do not overlap and only a portion of the surface of the backing layer is covered by the coating material (5). A metallic molding plate (10, 20) that contains a large number of concave form cavities (11, 21) for the formation of the protector elements (101), which are filled with the pasty coating mass (5) and which is applied, with its openings, to the tube (1) supported on the support plate (2), is used for that purpose. 4) Hardening of the coating material (5) during the application of temperature for the formation of a large number of hard protector elements on the backing layer.
