The invention relates to the synthesis and process thereof of a Quorum Sensing (QS) based polymer formed by the process of ring opening polymerization/ring opening copolymerization. The formed homopolymer or heteropolymer or copolymer displays increased half-life, bioactivity and biostability in stimulating the microbial quorum sensing in a predetermined microbial population.

The present invention pertains to the use for preventing or treating intestinal infections caused by gram-positive bacteria in animals of an antibacterial compound selected from lactylate in accordance with formula 1, Formula 1 R2-COO[CH(CH.sub.3)COO].sub.nR1 or a Na, K, Ca, Mg, Fe(II), Zn, NH.sub.4, or Cu(II) salt thereof, a glycolylate of formula 2, Formula 2: R2-COO[CH2-COO].sub.nR1 or a Na, K, Ca, Mg, Fe(II), Zn, NH.sub.4, or Cu(II) salt thereof, a lactate ester of formula 3, Formula 3: HOCH(CH.sub.3)COOR2 and/or a glycolic acid ester of formula 4, Formula 4: HOCH2-COOR2 wherein R1 is selected from H, n stands for an integer with a value of 1-10, and R2 stands for a C1-C35 alkyl or alkenyl chain which may be branched or unbranched. The compound, which preferably is a lactylate or a Na, K, Ca, Mg, Fe(II), Zn, NH.sub.4, or Cu(II) salt thereof, is particularly useful in the treatment or prevention of Clostridia. An animal nutrition composition and a method for preventing or treating infections are also claimed.
COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING RECOMBINANT BACILLUS CELLS AND ANOTHER BIOLOGICAL CONTROL AGENT
The present invention relates to a composition comprising a) recombinant exosporium-producing Bacillus cells that express a fusion protein comprising: (i) at least one plant growth stimulating protein or peptide and (ii) a targeting sequence that localizes the fusion protein to the exosporium of the Bacillus cells; and b) at least one further biological control agent selected from particular microorganisms disclosed herein and/or a mutant of a specific strain of a microorganism disclosed herein having all identifying characteristics of the respective strain, and/or at least one metabolite produced by the respective strain, and/or at least one metabolite produced by the respective strain that exhibits activity against insects, mites, nematodes and/or phytopathogens in a synergistically effective amount. Furthermore, the present invention relates to the use of this composition as well as a method for enhancing plant growth, promoting plant health, and/or reducing overall damage of plants and plant parts.

Methods and kits for detecting polypeptides of the invention in a sample are also included.
