Double-double composite sub-laminate structures and methods for manufacturing and using the same
Disclosed is a sub-laminate module for use in forming a composite laminate structure. The sub-laminate module comprises: a first ply set containing a first ply layer oriented at a first angle and a second ply layer oriented at a second angle, the second angle being equal and opposite the first angle; a second ply set containing a third ply layer oriented at a third angle and a fourth ply layer oriented at a fourth angle, the fourth angle being equal and opposite the third angle; and an acute angle defined by a difference between the first angle and the third angle, wherein the second ply layer is positioned adjacent the third ply layer and the second and third ply layers are both positioned intermediate the first and fourth ply layers, so as to define a double-double helix arrangement. Associated composite laminate structures and methods are also disclosed.
Electrically conductive adhesive
Disclosed herein is an electrically conductive adhesive composition, articles comprising at least two components adhesively bonded by the electrically conductive adhesive composition and methods of making such adhesives and articles. The electrically conductive adhesive composition includes milled carbon fibers dispersed in a thermosetting resin and a curative agent.
Thermoplastic aerostructure with localized ply isolation and method for forming aerostructure
A composite wingbox structure formed of reinforced thermoplastic. The composite includes carbon fiber reinforcement and a plurality of insulation elements to localize the heat formed during the process of manufacturing the structure. The process of manufacturing the wingbox includes the steps of interleaving a series of insulations elements within a plurality of laminae and consolidating the insulation elements and laminae to form a laminate. The laminate is then aligned with a support structure such that the insulation elements overlie the supports structure. The laminate is then fused to the support structure using a non-contact heating process, such as inductive welding.
Filament reinforced tapes useful as underwater pipe wrap
A member for use in undersea applications comprising a plurality of conduits assembled into a bundle; the bundle being wrapped with a pressure-sensitive tape comprising a backing, a layer of corrosion-resistant filaments on one surface of the backing, and pressure-sensitive adhesive layer that coats the filaments and binds them to the backing.

SPATIALLY CONTROLLABLE EDUCTOR FOR MANAGING SOLID ADDITIVES AND PROCESSES USING SAME
A spatially controllable, for example CD controllable, eductor, and more particularly an eductor that is capable of providing a variable motive fluid and processes using such an eductor are provided.
Shingle with reinforced nail zone and method of manufacturing
A method of making a laminated shingle is provided. The method includes coating a shingle mat with roofing asphalt to make an asphalt-coated sheet, adhering a reinforcement member to a portion of the asphalt-coated sheet, covering the asphalt-coated sheet, and optionally covering the reinforcement member, with granules to make a granule-covered sheet, dividing the granule-covered sheet into an overlay sheet and an underlay sheet, wherein the overlay sheet has a tab portion normally exposed on a roof and a headlap portion normally covered-up on a roof, the headlap portion having a lower zone adjacent the tab portion and an upper zone adjacent the lower zone, and wherein the reinforcement member is adhered to the lower zone of the headlap portion and laminating the overlay sheet and the underlay sheet to make the laminated shingle.
POLYMERIC NONWOVEN STRUCTURE FOR USE IN HIGH TEMPERATURE APPLICATIONS
A fibrous structure including one or more nonwoven material layers comprising a fiber matrix, where the fiber matrix comprises polymeric binder fibers having a softening and/or melting temperature of about 190° C. or greater, where the article is adapted to withstand temperatures of about 190° C. or greater while in use; and where the article is a thermoacoustic insulation material.
