Process for regenerating a monolithic, macro-structural, inter-penetrating elastomer network morphology from ground tire rubber particles
11286376 · 2022-03-29 ·

Crumb rubber obtained from recycled tires is subjected to an interlinked substitution process. The process utilizes a reactive component that interferes with sulfur bonds. The resulting treated rubber exhibits properties similar to those of the virgin composite rubber structure prior to being granulated, and is suitable for use in fabricating new tires, engineered rubber articles, and asphalt rubber for use in waterproofing and paving applications.

Antifog polyester lidding film for CPET trays

The present disclosure is directed to peelable, heat-sealable lidding films for containers of diverse polymer compositions storing various products such as foodstuffs and pharmaceuticals. The lidding films disclosed herein can be heat-sealed to crystalline polyester trays (CPET), easily peeled, and contain improved antifogging performance by incorporating a non-migratory antifogging additive into the heat sealable layer of the film without deteriorating seal strengths.

A plug including a hub which extends along a central axis and is defined radially by a side wall wherein an annular groove is formed, which receives a sealing member, the groove provided between a bottom wall and first annular edge wall, and a second annular edge wall, which axially define the groove, the hub being formed by the combination of a first hub section on which the first edge wall is formed, and a second hub section on which the second edge wall is formed, the first hub section and the second hub section being assembled so that they meet at a gasket face which is secant to the central axis and the bottom wall of the groove, so the line of the intersection of the gasket face with the bottom wall is contained axially between the first and second edge wall over the entire perimeter of the groove.

Compostable multilayer membranes and cartridges using such membranes

A compostable multilayer membrane may include: a first barrier layer containing a compostable barrier film; a first metallization layer; an intermediate layer containing at least one adhesive; a second barrier layer containing a compostable barrier film; a layer adjacent to the first barrier layer, on a side opposite to the first metallization layer, the adjacent layer comprising heat-resistant lacquer; a second metallization layer between the intermediate layer and the second barrier layer; and a filter made of nonwoven fabric. The compostable barrier film of the first barrier layer may not be made of cellulosic material. The compostable barrier film of the second barrier layer may not be made of cellulosic material. The compostable multilayer membrane may have an Oxygen Transfer Rate (OTR) value lower than 0.5 cc/m.sup.2/day/atm. The filter may be adjacent to the second barrier layer on a side opposite to the intermediate layer.

LIGHTWEIGHT VAULT COVER

Disclosed is a cover for a utility vault and a method for making such covers. The cover is formed from fiberglass reinforcement layers and a polymer mix matrix. The reinforcement layers include a bottom reinforcement layer, one or more edge reinforcement layers, and a top reinforcement layer. A first portion of the edge reinforcement layer overlaps a portion of the bottom reinforcement layer and a second portion of the edge reinforcement layer overlaps a portion of the top reinforcement layer. The reinforcement layers are formed from fiberglass fabric and may include fiberglass layers whose fibers are oriented quadraxially. The polymer mix impregnates the fabric layers and forms the bulk of the cover. The polymer matrix bonds the reinforcement layers so that forces applied across the top and bottom layers are communicated to the edge reinforcement layer. The polymer matrix includes a thermoset polymer resin and an expanded glass bead filler.

Various enhancements of tabbed seals are provided herein with enhanced grasping functionality. Such enhancements include an oversized tab structure for increasing the overall surface area of the tab. In some forms, the tab has been configured such that the overall gripping tab is larger, but a portion thereof is temporarily adhered to the lower laminate, such as during seal and/or cap installation. Instead, the gripping tab includes a small free portion and then a second, temporarily bonded portion that can either release or rupture, permitting the overall grippable portion of the tab to be large.
