METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING PRINTED MATTER
A problem to be addressed by the present invention is to provide a method of producing a printed material by printing an active energy ray-curable printing ink on a film, wherein the printed material has good adhesion between the ink and the film even after undergoing boiling treatment for boiling sterilization or retorting sterilization. Such a problem is solved by a method of producing a printed material, including the steps of printing an ink on a film; and irradiating the ink-printed face with an active energy ray; wherein the film contains: a polyamide film layer; and a layer that, as the outermost layer of at least one face of the film, contains a polyurethane obtained by use of a polycarbonate polyol as a polyol component.
WATERLESS PLANOGRAPHIC PRINTING PLATE DYEING METHOD AND PLANOGRAPHIC PRINTING DYE
The invention provides a dyeing solution for lithographic printing plates and a dyeing method for waterless lithographic printing plates that show stable plate inspection characteristics with little decrease in dye concentration and less dyeing unevenness even when used for bulk plate processing. The dyeing method for waterless lithographic printing plates is designed so that when used to dye an image area formed on a waterless lithographic printing plate with a dyeing solution containing an organic solvent, the relation of |β−α|<5 (cal/cm.sup.3).sup.1/2 is held wherein β is the SP value of the polymer compound included in the image area and α is the SP value of the organic solvent. The dyeing solution for lithographic printing plates contains (a) a dye, (b) a specific anionic surface active agent, and (c) an organic solvent containing at least one selected from ethers and alcohols.
Method of making a patterned flexographic printing plate
An analog method of making a patterned flexographic printing plate, the method comprising impressing a flexible patterned substrate into an uncured soft photopolymer plate to form the patterned flexographic printing plate.

Additive plate making system and method
A process for constructing a printing plate by successively depositing a plurality of n layers of photopolymer on a substrate, curing each layer 1 through (n-m) using a wide area radiation source, and selectively curing layers (n-m+1) to layer n using a small area radiation source modulated in accordance with a desired image to be printed by the printing plate. Non-cured polymer is removed from layers (n-m+1) to n, and all of the layers are further cured with a detacking area radiation source. Also disclosed is a system for constructing a printing plate by additive manufacturing, including a printing assembly and means for providing relative motion between the substrate and the printing assembly. The assembly comprises one or more ink jet print heads, at least one wide area radiation source, and the small area radiation source.

METHOD FOR PERSISTENT MARKING OF FLEXO PLATES WITH WORKFLOW INFORMATION AND PLATES MARKED THEREWITH
Systems and methods for making a flexo plate, and plates, machines, readers, and computer readable media for use therewith. In the system, a plurality of processing machines, each configured to perform one or more process steps in a workflow, includes a controller, a variable operating parameter controlled by the controller, and a reader configured to read machine-readable indicia on the flexo plate. The machine-readable indicia (e.g. bar code, RFID tag, text) is configured for persistent readability downstream of washing (and cutting) steps, without printing in the printing step. The indicia may embody information including at least a plate identifier and instructions corresponding to the at least one variable operating parameter for each of the processing machines or information corresponding to an address in computer storage where the information resides.

PRINTING PLATE WORKFLOW CONTROLLED WITH THE AID OF THE TRANSPORT CART
A method correctly mounts printing plates in a printing press. The method uses prepress software, a transport device, an identification device disposed on the transport device or on a printing plate, and a scanning device. The prepress software defines a sequence of print jobs to be processed by the printing press and sends data for making the printing plates for the print jobs defined in the processing sequence to a platesetter. The platesetter produces the corresponding printing plates. The produced printing plates are deposited on the transport device, the transport device is conveyed to the printing press, and the identification device of the transport device or of a printing plate is scanned by a scanning device at the printing press and the print jobs that have been identified in this way are compared to the print jobs which the prepress software has assigned to the printing press.
Flexography Printing
A flexographic printing plate includes at least one halftone printing area with a plurality of halftone dots. A halftone dot of said plurality of halftone dots is shaped as a relief area. Said relief area includes a central portion and a surrounding portion. Said central portion has a central dot floor with a first pattern of a plurality of pins protruding upwardly from the central dot floor. Said surrounding portion protrudes upwardly from the central dot floor and has a top side including a second pattern of a plurality of recesses. The first pattern and second pattern are such that the surrounding portion can be distinguished from the central portion.
