Plural bonding units with shifted timing
An adhesive application device that applies an adhesive onto each of sequentially conveyed paper sheets, includes: a device frame; a bonding member that delivers the adhesive for bonding the paper sheets to each other; a plurality of bonding units that is arranged in a sheet width direction and each has the bonding member; a support member that supports the bonding units on the device frame so as to be movable between a bonding position at which each bonding unit presses its bonding member to apply the adhesive onto the paper sheet and a separated position separated from the bonding position; and a moving member that moves the plurality of bonding units to the bonding position with timing shifted. Thus, it is possible to move the bonding units with a smaller drive force than in a case where the bonding units are moved simultaneously.
A MACHINE FOR PROCESSING SHEETS FOR BINDING THE SHEETS TO FORM A BOOK AND A METHOD THEREOF
A machine for processing sheets for binding the sheets to form a book and a method of manufacturing is provided. The machine includes, a first receiver and a second receiver to receive to receive a main sheet (101) and an auxiliary sheet (103) respectively. The machine further includes a disposer to dispose an adhesive strip (105) to couple the main sheet (101) and the auxiliary sheet (103) and to form a gutter (107) between the main sheet (101) and the auxiliary sheet (103). The distance (g1, g2) between the main sheet 101 and the auxiliary sheet (103) is a gutter-size (g1,g2). The machine further provides an adjuster to adjust relative position of the main sheet (101) and the auxiliary sheet (103) and any one or both of the gutter-size (g1,g2) and width (x1, x2) of the auxiliary sheet (103) based on the position of the main sheet (100) in the book. The first receiver and the second receiver positions the auxiliary sheet (103) adjacent to a first edge of the main sheet (101) and the first edge is proximal to a biding edge of the book.
COVERT MARKING
Examples described herein relate to a system consistent with the disclosure. For instance, the system may comprise a printing device including hardware to form an image on a print medium, a memory resource, and a controller to receive a print job to form the markings on the print medium, designate a pixel of the received print job to form a covert dot pattern on the markings, where the pixel corresponds to a first laser intensity level; and adjust a laser intensity of the printing device to a second laser intensity level based on the first laser intensity level of the designated pixel to form the covert dot pattern.
APPARATUS FOR LOADING BINDER STRIPS INTO A BINDING MACHINE
An apparatus to facilitate the binding of sheets using heat activated adhesives, with the sheets having coatings that resist binding. A stack of sheets is abraded prior to binding, with the apparatus gripping the stack so that a stack end to be bound is exposed. An abrading head containing a plurality of reciprocating pins is positioned so that pins can be controlled to repeatedly strike the stack end along the length of the end. This action results in abrading the stack end thereby producing relatively long fibers from the coated sheets that absorb the binder strip adhesive thereby achieving a strong bind notwithstanding the adhesive-resistant coating.
DEVICE FOR THE ROBOTIC PRINTING OF INDIVIDUALLY-PRINTED BOOKS, AND ASSOCIATED METHOD
A device for manufacturing a book on demand, including a cover printing or receiving station designed to respectively print or receive a cover, a body printing or receiving station designed to respectively print or receive a body, a binding station designed to join together the body and the cover, a conveyor designed and/or programmed to convey the cover and/or the body between the different stations, the device is designed to deposit glue in a gluing region on the verso of the cover inside the binding station before the cover and the body are joined together by gluing, forming a book.

SYSTEM AND APPARATUS FOR BOOK BLOCK BINDING AND METHOD THEREOF
Systems, apparatuses, and methods are provided for providing a rotatable perfect binding separated step solution configured to maximize efficiency for one-off book printing. The multi-clamp binding apparatus includes a rotatable body, a plurality of fixed operation stations associated with the rotatable body, and a plurality of clamps coupled to the rotatable body. Each of the clamps may retain at least one workpiece. The rotatable body may rotate each of the plurality of clamps to one or more of the plurality of fixed operation stations. In operation, a book block is received at an in-feed location of the perfect binding apparatus. The book block is stored within a holding apparatus of the perfect binding apparatus. The book block is then rotated between a plurality of fixed operation stations. At least one operation is performed upon the book block at each of the plurality of fixed operation stations.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR HEAT ASSISTED SADDLE FINISHER FOLDING
A system and method for assembling booklets in document finishers such as saddle staplers includes first and second opposed rollers configured to receive an edge of a stapled crease of a stack of printed documents. The rollers apply both heat and pressure to the crease to form a tight fold. A second set of rollers provides further heat and pressure to the fold to increase tightness even further. Pressure and temperature of one or both roller sets is controllable to accommodate paper stacks having different numbers of pages or different paper characteristics.
Binding device and method of using
A binding device and method that allows pages or documents to be secured in a binder while providing a recyclable, transparent and printable cover. The binding device includes a flexible sheet having a front surface, a rear surface, a first, second, third and fourth edge, a fold parallel to the first edge on the flexible sheet that extends from the second edge to the fourth edge, a plurality of spaced apart die cuts adjacent the fold shaped to form tabs, a transparent flexible front cover having a front surface, rear surface, a first, second, third and fourth edge, the first edge of the front cover overlapping and affixing to the front surface of the flexible sheet.
