An ultraviolet (UV) light shield system includes multiple UV lamps mounted within an internal cabin of a vehicle. The UV lamps are positioned to emit UV light in fields of illumination that extend along sides of passenger seats disposed within the internal cabin. Two adjacent fields of illumination are spaced apart to define a protection zone for a passenger sitting on one of the passenger seats.

A system that can selectively activate or deactivate one or more ultra-violet light sources to sanitize a portion of a vehicle. The system can include a vehicle that has a vehicle door. The system can include one or more sensors that can be configured to detect whether the vehicle door is open or closed. In response to detecting that the vehicle door is open, the system can cause the one or more ultra-violet light sources to be activated, whereby ultra-violet light is emitted by the one or more ultra-violet light sources with respect to at least a portion of the vehicle. In some instances, the ultra-violet light can be emitted across the door frame of an open door. In some instances, the ultra-violet light can be emitted within at least a portion of the vehicle cabin.

A vehicle is provided to include a bio-signal sensor that detects a bio-signal of a user, a display device that displays an image and a controller that determines at least one of a positivity of the user or change amount of the positivity of the user based on the detected bio-signal. A photocatalyst filtration system for a vehicle includes a housing having an airflow path, and a filter configured to filter air flowing in the airflow path, the filter having a first photocatalyst and a second photocatalyst. The system further includes a first ultraviolet (UV) light source disposed proximate the filter and configured to energize the first photocatalyst, and a second UV light source disposed proximate the filter and configured to produce light having a shorter wavelength than light produced by the first UV light source, and configured to energize the second photocatalyst. One of the first photocatalyst or the second photocatalyst is configured to remove odor from the air. The other of the first photocatalyst or the second photocatalyst is configured to remove bacteria from the air.

Provided is an aroma generator including: a cartridge holding unit equipped with a cartridge that holds a fragrance; and a control unit that automatically selects a type of the fragrance in the cartridge according to sensing information obtained from the outside. The sensing information may be external environment information and/or biological information. Furthermore, the aroma generator may further include an air blower that blows the fragrance in the cartridge, and the control unit may automatically change blowing intensity of the air blower according to the sensing information.

Systems for providing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) in transit vehicles include one or more sanitizers. Sanitizers can include a pre-filter installed upstream of a filter, a filter including or coated with an anti-pathogen material, or a treatment dispenser providing a treatment including an anti-pathogen material to reduce pathogen risk and/or improve air quality within the transit vehicle. Methods for operating a transit HVAC system can include reducing pathogens. Pathogens can be reduced by one or more of filtering air passing through the transit HVAC system using a pre-filter, filtering the air passing through the transit HVAC system using a filter that is coated with or includes an anti-pathogen material, or providing a treatment including the anti-pathogen material to the air passing through the transit HVAC system. Systems can further be configured to provide air first to a driver section of the transit vehicle.
