The method comprises: at the controller: monitoring a voltage of the battery; if the voltage of the battery exceeds a first battery voltage threshold for a first predetermined amount of time: determining a first energy count value representing an amount of energy delivered by the solar panel in a predetermined time period; if the first energy count value exceeds a first energy count value threshold: determining an average current value representing an average amount of energy delivered by the solar panel in the predetermined time period; and increasing a cycle threshold value that determines when the engine is deactivated so as to stop supplying the second charging current i.sub.2 to the battery based on the average current value.

The charging apparatus is configured to charge a vehicle battery or other consumers through the output port. The power source module is electrically connected to the main control circuit and the voltage booster circuit. The main control circuit is electrically connected to the adjusting circuit and the voltage booster circuit. The main control circuit is configured to output an adjusting signal to the adjusting circuit. The adjusting circuit controls the voltage booster circuit to output a first or second output voltage to the output port, according to the adjusting signal. The second output voltage is greater than the first output voltage. The present disclosure provides a plurality of voltages to meet the vehicle battery.

When the power failure detection unit detects the power failure, and remaining capacities, charging rates, or voltages of the plurality of powers are less than, or equal to or less than predetermined thresholds, the control unit disconnects the loads from the power supply path by the switching unit in an order from one of the loads with a lowest operation priority of the operation priorities to gradually decrease supply currents from the powers to the loads.
