COLLISION DETERMINATION APPARATUS AND COLLISION DETERMINATION METHOD
A collision determination apparatus includes an acquisition section, a filtering section, a target object information detection section, a target object path prediction section, an own vehicle path prediction section, a collision determination section, and a vehicle control section. The acquisition section (21) acquires detection information based on a reflected wave from a search device. The filtering section filters the detection information. The target object information detection section detects a position of a target object using the filtered detection information. The target object path prediction section predicts a path of the target object based on changes in the detected position of the target object. The own vehicle path prediction section predicts a path of an own vehicle. The collision determination section determines a risk of collision between the own vehicle and the target object. The vehicle control section executes a vehicle control. The path of the target object is predicted based on the detection information filtered by a collision determination filter. The path of the target object is predicted based on the detection information filtered by a vehicle control filter. The filtering process is a smoothing process that inhibits changes in the detection information. The vehicle control filter and the collision determination filter have different smoothing degree of inhibiting the changes in the detection information.
RELEASE MECHANISM OF A HEAD RESTRAINT UNIT
A head restraint unit is configured to restrain the movement of a head of a user, and to be fixed to or to be integral with a vehicle seat. The head restraint unit includes a headrest member and two side portions extending therefrom. A restraining member is pivotally coupled to the two side portions to allow rotation between a maximal upward position and a maximal downward position. The head of the user is intended to be positioned within the confined space that is formed within the loop defined by the back portion, side portions and the head restraining member. In result to an extreme maneuver of the vehicle, the head of the user can maneuver in a non-safely manner that can damage his/her head or spine. The head restraining member is configured to restrain this extreme movement and to reduce of its risk.
HEAD STABILIZER
The head stabilizer includes a suspender having a pair of bracket connectors that couple to a vehicle seat and a downwardly extending vertical positioning rod having a size and shape for select slide-on reception of a lateral support unit. The lateral support unit may be secured in a desired vertical position along the rod through locking engagement with one or more notches therein. The lateral support unit includes a pair of head pads that can be drawn in to provide side-to-side support for the user's head and a headband may couple between the pair of head pads and across the forehead to provide pitch support for the head.
VEHICLE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT SYSTEM FOR WHEELCHAIR USERS AND VEHICLE INCORPORATING THE SYSTEM
An occupant restraint system for a wheelchair user in a vehicle that includes a pivot brace connected to the vehicle structure, a restraint hoop pivotally connected to the pivot brace and adapted to pivot between a stowed position above a wheelchair/occupant receiving area in the vehicle and a deployed position that is forward of a wheelchair/occupant when positioned in the wheelchair/occupant receiving area in the vehicle, and an occupant restraint belt connected to the restraint hoop.

Determining vehicle power
In various example embodiments, a system and method for determining a power of a vehicle is disclosed. A method includes: providing predetermined calibration settings relating force to engine speed for a vehicle travelling at various speeds, altering accelerometer data based on filtered vehicle pitch and roll data, determining that one or more vehicle performance parameters fall within a threshold range, storing a plurality of data pairs that include longitudinal acceleration and drive force, and determining a slope of a line that linearly approximates the plurality of data pairs, the slope indicating a total weight of the vehicle including vehicle load; determining the vehicle power based on the total weight and drag force of the vehicle; and transmitting the total power to a display.
RESCUE RESTRAINT
A restraint system, in the form of a belt, can be worn about a rescue worker that may be positioned, for example, in a back of an ambulance. The belt may have a retractable lanyard mechanism, or a fixed length strap, on a back or side position thereof with a connector that may attached to a connection point within the ambulance. The lanyard may be designed to permit controlled movement of the worker about the rear of the ambulance, however, should sudden movement of the worker occur, the lanyard may lock and fix its position to help prevent the worker from being thrown about the ambulance during a sudden stop, accident, or the like.

Seat for vehicle
A vehicle seat is provided in which a seat back is constrained from tilting down when a seat cushion is moved to a position in which the seat back cannot be tilted down. The vehicle seat includes a base frame, a seat cushion frame (3) horizontally movable relative to the base frame between a first position and a second position different from the first position, a seat back frame (4) rotatable relative to the seat cushion frame (3), a lock member (5) configured to constrain the seat back frame (4) from tilting rearward, and an unlock mechanism (6) configured to release a lock applied by the lock member (5) when the seat cushion frame (3) is moved from the first position to the second position.
