VEHICLE

A vehicle includes a battery, a motor driving a wheel, an inverter converting DC power from the battery to AC power and suppling the AC power to the motor, a charging terminal connected to the battery when the battery is charged and connected to a coil of any one phase of the motor, an electrical device driven by a first voltage from the battery when the battery supplies power and driven by the first voltage boosted by the motor and the inverter when the battery is charged at a second voltage lower than the first voltage, a control unit controlling charging of the battery, and a brake mechanism restricting rotation of the wheel. The control unit activates the brake mechanism when the control unit detects that a charging plug is fitted to the charging terminal and detects that a charging voltage of the battery is the second voltage.

A control method capable of improving operability of a motorcycle. In a controller and the control method according to the present invention, an execution section of the controller executes holding control for braking and holding a motorcycle without relying on a brake operation by a rider of the motorcycle at a stop of the motorcycle. The execution section switches a cancellation condition of the holding control between a first condition, under which the holding control is canceled on the basis of an output increase index value of a drive source (an engine) and connection state information of a clutch, and a second condition, under which the holding control is canceled not on the basis of the output increase index value but on the basis of the connection state information, according to a gradient of a road surface.

WHEEL SPEED SCALER FOR VEHICLES

A speed scaler adjusts the electronic signals received from the electronic speed sensor on a vehicle to reflect the actual speed of operation of a vehicle after replacement tires are installed on the vehicle. The dimensional parameters of the original tires and the replacement tires for the vehicle are stored in the memory of the speed scaler system and compared to create a ratio for adjustment. The speed scaler is operatively positioned between the electronic speed sensor which creates an electronic pulse corresponding to the rotational speed of each wheel. The speed scaler intercepts these electronic pulses and adjusts the timing of the pulses in accordance with the ratio of the original tire circumference and the replacement tire circumference, and then transmits the adjusted electronic pulse to the Anti-Lock Brake System for re-transmission to the components of the vehicle requiring accurate vehicle speed indications.
