A hatch lock cover includes inner and outer flanges, with a keeper and a handle positioned between the flanges. The handle is rotatable with respect to the flanges to move a batten bar contacting surface into and out of engagement with a batten bar or a hatch cover tab of a hatch cover. A downwardly extending portion of an arm of the keeper may define an aperture and/or include a projection for securing an adjustment plate or extension piece to the arm to provide an alternative batten bar contacting surface. Alternatively, a mounting bracket may be provided to secure the hatch cover lock to a railcar, with the mounting bracket accommodating the hatch cover lock in different positions having different elevations. Such configurations allow the hatch cover lock to be adjusted for use with a batten bar or hatch cover tab having a gasket that has become worn out.

HOPPER RAILROAD CAR HAVING TOP HATCH COVER ASSEMBLY

A hopper railroad car top hatch cover assembly including a hatch cover and a hatch cover securer configured to secure the hatch cover in a closed position engaging a coaming of the hopper railroad car.

Hopper railroad car flexible top hatch cover

A hopper railroad car hatch cover including an elongated movable flexible hatch including an elongated flexible panel and an elongated magnetic coaming sealer connected to the bottom of the elongated movable flexible panel, wherein the elongated magnetic coaming sealer is configured, such that when the elongated movable hatch of the hatch cover is in the closed position on a coaming of a hopper railroad car, the elongated magnetic coaming sealer engages and creates a seal with the coaming.

A system to transport and unload bulk materials includes at least one rail car and a moving wall system. The moving wall system has a first end, a second end, and a trough. The trough is configured to contain a payload of the at least one rail car. The trough includes sidewalls that contact the payload when loaded and move with the payload to move the payload towards the second end. The trough may be formed of at least one conveyor belt that forms a hopper of the at least one rail car. The trough may span a plurality of rail cars. The system may include a take-up system connecting the sidewalls. Each of the rail cars may include a frame and a plurality of pulleys connected to the frame may support the trough.

Covering system for a hopper wagon

The invention relates to a covering system for covering an inlet formed in a hopper wagon body of a hopper wagon, whereby the covering system comprises a cover that is configured to close the inlet when it is arranged in a closed position and open the inlet when it arranged in an open position and hinge means that is configured to mount the cover on the hopper wagon body such that the cover is hinged to an outer portion the hopper wagon body, adjacent the inlet and the cover is rotatable in a substantially vertical plane between the closed position and the open position. The hinge means may be configured to mount the cover in spaced relation above the inlet such that there is a gap space between the cover and the inlet when the cover is arranged in at least the closed position. The gap space may be formed between a hinged edge region of the cover and an adjacent edge of the inlet. The cover may comprise a single leaf door. The cover may comprise a double leaf door. The invention also relates to a hopper wagon comprising the covering system.

SENSING METHOD, SYSTEM AND ASSEMBLY FOR RAILWAY ASSETS

System and methods for detecting an operational status of a valve or passageway on a railway asset. The methods may comprise: resiliently biasing a magnet in a direction away from a wireless sensor node coupled to the passageway; determining that the passageway is in an open position when the wireless sensor node is neutrally polarized (the data collection device being neutrally polarized when the magnet is distant therefrom); causing the magnet to move in a direction towards the wireless sensor node responsive to a cover of the passageway being closed; and determining that the passageway is in a closed position when the wireless sensor node is magnetically polarized (the wireless sensor node being magnetically polarized when the magnet is proximate thereto).

HATCH COVER FOR RAILWAY CARS AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME

A hatch cover for a covered hopper railcar includes a substantially circular shell member having a radially outer circumferential perimeter. The substantially circular shell member includes a topside surface and an underside surface. The hatch cover also includes a downwardly extending rim member coupled to and unitarily formed with the substantially circular shell member. The substantially circular shell member and the downwardly extending rim member define a shell/rim interface at the underside surface. The hatch cover further includes at least one sealing gasket fixedly coupled to the underside surface proximate the shell/rim interface.
