EPIRB having retention carriage strap for hands free carriage
An emergency position indicating radio beacon that includes a waterproof rigid housing, antenna, a retention carriage strap securely mounted around its exterior periphery on a spool in a storage position. In an emergency the user can unwind the retention carriage strap and form an adjustable loop in the strap using hook and loop fasteners to firmly attach the strap connected to the EPIRB housing to the user's arm that allows a user to transport the radio beacon with the retention carriage strap in a hands-free configuration.
TRIGGERABLE MECHANISMS AND FRAGMENT CONTAINMENT ARRANGEMENTS FOR SELF-DESTRUCTING FRANGIBLE STRUCTURES AND SEALED VESSELS
An apparatus comprises a frangible structure coupled or integral to at least a portion of the apparatus and a triggerable mechanism disposed at or proximate the frangible structure. The triggerable mechanism is configured to break the frangible structure in response to a trigger signal. A containment structure is disposed on or over at least a portion of the frangible structure. The containment structure is configured to allow at least the portion of the frangible structure to deform or change shape in response to breaking of the frangible structure while keeping substantially all fragments of at least the portion of the broken frangible structure together.

System for self-escape from a safety harness having a plurality of mounted web cutters and glass break tools
A system for self-extrication from a safety harness by the wearer, or during rescue of the wearer, in the event of an emergency including one or more combination cutter and glass break tools mounted onto and around selected portions of the safety harness at predetermined positions for use in cutting the webbing straps of the safety harness in the event of the inoperability of any safety harness release resulting in the severing of the harness at such a predetermined position and further resulting in the combination tool being freed for use in breaking glass out of a window of a vehicle.

BOAT DRIVER AWARENESS LIGHT
Embodiments of the present invention relate to a boat driver awareness system that alerts other boaters that there are swimmers, skiers, divers, rope or other hazards are in the water, thereby telling them to be aware and take extra caution in the area. When boating, especially on smaller or busy lakes/areas, this system will alert all other boaters that there are people/swimmers in the water and they can respond by keeping out of the area.
Distress alert systems and processes related thereto
Systems and processes for initiating a rescue, using peer-to-peer distress alert systems, are described. An exemplar process of initiating, from a distressed vessel, a recce includes: (i) generating an outgoing distress signal that includes a distress signal and distressed vessel location information; (ii) broadcasting the outgoing distress signal to one or more potential rescue vessels located away from the distressed vessel; (iii) receiving, from one or more of the potential rescue vessels, one or more outgoing rescue signals, each of which includes potential rescue vessel location information; (iv) of identifying, using the potential rescue vessel location information from one or more of the potential rescue vessels and vessel location information of the distressed vessel, one or more rescue potential rescue vessels that are suitable for rescuing the distress vessel; and (v) transmitting, from the distressed vessel, a confirmation rescue signal to each of the potential rescue vessels that are suitable for rescuing the distress vessel.
AUTOMATIC METHOD FOR RELEASING AND GUIDING RESCUE AND LIFE-SAVING APPLIANCES THAT IMPLEMENT THE METHOD
This invention relates to an automatic method for releasing and guiding rescue and life-saving appliances that implement the method, implemented by a computer located in the command tower (202) of the vessel (200), that receives and processes in real time the geographical position data of a person overboard (101) in response to an emergency signal received by the aerial (3), sends a signal activating and releasing the Unmanned Surface Vehicle - USV - (1), launching it onto the water, and the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle - UAV - (4),launching it into the air.

Lanyard system and method for a marine vessel
A wireless lanyard system for a marine vessel propelled by at least one propulsion device, the system comprising an operator fob configured to be worn by an operator of the marine vessel, a helm transceiver configured to receive radio signals from the operator fob an a controller. The controller is configured to define a permitted zone with respect to a helm area of the marine vessel based on at least one vessel condition, determine based on communications between the operator fob and the helm transceiver whether the operator is within the permitted zone with respect to the helm area, and generate a lanyard event when the operator is not within the permitted zone.
