12478521 · 2025-11-25 · ·

Provided herein is a controller configured to determine the position, direction, or speed of a wheelchair during ingress or egress in a wheelchair accessible vehicle. The controller may receive input from any combination of sensors configured to provide signals indicative of the wheelchair position, direction, or speed, such as cameras, light curtains, and floor pressure sensors. The controller can be configured to sense and correct unsafe conditions, such as the wheelchair approaching an edge of a ramp, and to sense when the wheelchair has reached a final securement position and/or has departed the vehicle.

Homing load detecting device for rescue hoist and winch assemblies

A fixture is described. The fixture is for detecting forces between a hook assembly and a bell mouth of a rescue hoist. The fixture couples to the bell mouth such that the fixture is affixed to a main housing of the rescue hoist. A cable of the rescue hoist extends through the bell mouth and the fixture. The cable includes a distal end coupled to the hook assembly. The cable is retractable causing the hook assembly to abut the fixture. The fixture may then detect the force. The force may be used to provide an indication to a crew of an aircraft that the force is below a minimum homing load or above a maximum homing load.

WHEELCHAIR LOCATION SENSING DEVICE FOR A WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE VEHICLE

Provided herein is an electronically-controlled wheelchair securement system with a winch apparatus that is adapted for pulling and steering a mobility device (e.g., wheelchair, scooter, stretcher, etc.) up and down the ramp of a rear-entry wheelchair accessible vehicle and for providing securement for the mobility device during transport.
