WATER INLET PROTECTION SYSTEM
A water inlet protection system is provided. The system may an adjustable frame defining an interior cavity, the adjustable frame including a plurality of rigid base members, a plurality of slidable corner members, a plurality of nut-and-bolt fasteners, and one or more tabs extending from one or more of the corner members. Each of the slidable corner members includes one or more slots, and each of the nut-and-bolt fasteners includes a bolt that extends through one of the one or more slots and one of the rigid base members. When the respective bolt is loosened, the respective slidable corner member is slidable along the respective slot atop the respective rigid base member, thereby altering a boundary of the interior cavity. When the respective bolt is tightened, the respective slidable corner member is fixed in place atop the respective rigid base member, thereby fixing the boundary of the interior cavity.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR AQUIFER REPLENISHMENT, WATER FILTRATION, AND DESALINATION
A method for refilling an aquifer includes establishing an air extraction well into the aquifer. The aquifer includes a water table of groundwater. A vacuum pump is coupled in flow communication to the air extraction well. The vacuum pump is then activated to remove air from the aquifer, thereby reducing a subsurface air pressure and facilitating refilling the aquifer with groundwater.
DISPENSING APPARATUS AND METHOD
A dispensing apparatus for dispensing a beverage preparation ingredient from a pod. The dispensing apparatus comprises a pod support region configured to support a pod, an actuator configured to engage with a corresponding actuator engagement region of the pod, and a rotation mechanism for rotating the pod. The apparatus is configured to cause the actuation member to cause an opening to be formed in a pod supported by the pod support region. The apparatus is further configured to cause the rotation mechanism to cause the pod to rotate about an axis of rotation during a dispensing operation, so as to cause the beverage preparation ingredient to be released from the pod via said opening.
SYSTEM FOR FILTERING LIQUID
There is provided a system for filtering liquid. The system comprises a liquid storage reservoir and a liquid inlet reservoir. The system further comprises a filter receiving portion configured to receive a filter, such that, in use, a filter is provided between said liquid inlet reservoir and said liquid storage reservoir and is, in use, configured to filter liquid passing from the liquid inlet reservoir to the liquid storage reservoir along a first liquid flow path. The system further comprises second liquid flow path from the liquid inlet reservoir to the liquid storage reservoir which by-passes said filter.
POD AND DISPENSING METHOD
A pod for storing and dispensing a beverage preparation ingredient during a dispensing operation. The pod comprises a body defining a cavity for storing the beverage preparation ingredient, said body comprising a dispensing side and a closed side, and at least one side wall extending from the closed side to the dispensing side; and an actuation member contained within said cavity. The actuation member is configured to cause an opening to be formed between said cavity and a region outside the pod when actuated. The opening is formed around a perimeter of a dispensing surface of the pod at a junction formed between the at least one side wall and the dispensing surface, the dispensing surface being provided at the dispensing side of the body.
Closed-loop bioregenerative water purification system for the international space station (ISS) and for sustainable mars exploration
A water purification system comprises a bioreaction subsystem receiving contaminated input effluent and having a gas-lift anaerobic membrane bioreactor removing urea and organic matter to create a first effluent. A light-treatment subsystem receives the first effluent and exposes the first effluent to UV light to create a second effluent free from microorganisms. A reactor subsystem fluidically connects an ammonia-reducing reactor to the UV output and receives UV-treated second effluent and has a struvite regenerator connected to the ammonia-reducing reactor output, separating ammonia from the second effluent in the ammonia-reducing reactor, and outputting the ammonia. A separation subsystem fluidically connects to the reactor output and receives the second effluent substantially free from ammonia and has a continuous electro-deionization device separating brine/salts from the second effluent to produce potable water. A closed-loop includes an ammonia-converting subsystem and a sequential fertilizer producer.
REVERSE OSMOSIS WATER PRODUCTION APPARATUS
A reverse osmosis water production apparatus for use in a body of water includes a first section defining a buoyancy chamber and an elongate second section connected to the first section and configured to define an elongate chamber which extends downward beneath a waterline in use. The elongate chamber is provided with a plurality of elongate reverse osmosis membrane tubes, each tube containing a reverse osmosis membrane. A longitudinal axis of each reverse osmosis membrane tube is substantially parallel with a longitudinal axis of the elongate chamber and the reverse osmosis membrane tubes are arranged around a passage.
TAIL WATER DECENTRALIZED TREATMENT AND DRAINAGE SYSTEM OF SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT
The present invention provides a tail water decentralized treatment and drainage system of sewage treatment plant, comprising a riparian vegetation buffer zone, a subsurface flow constructed wetland and a riverside protection pile, the riparian vegetation buffer zone comprises an excavation protection slope and an ecological bag paved on the excavation protection slope. The subsurface flow constructed wetland is disposed on the river protection slope along the river flow direction, the subsurface flow constructed wetland is provided with a treatment system, a water drainage system and a plurality of outlet pipes disposed along the river flow direction. The present invention is novel in idea and reasonable in design. By constructing a subsurface flow constructed wetland on the slope of the river bank after repositioning, the vegetation buffer zone and the subsurface flow constructed wetland are skillfully combined, and the tail water of sewage treatment plants is purified and treated through the subsurface flow constructed wetland. It is particularly suitable for changing the condition of single drainage outlet for the sewage treatment plant constructed near the river, with strong practicability.

Water treatment apparatus
There is disclosed a water treatment apparatus for treating stormwater, the water treatment apparatus comprising a volume of filter media, a baffle and an inlet conduit. The baffle extends upwards from the volume of filter media and defines a pre-treatment zone on one side of the baffle and a treatment zone on an opposing side of the baffle. The inlet conduit opens into the pre-treatment zone and is separated from the treatment zone by the baffle. The baffle is configured to regulate a flow of stormwater received via the inlet conduit by controlling the passage of stormwater from the pre-treatment zone to the treatment zone.
