A cartridge may include a housing, a liquid supply reservoir in the housing and configured to store a pre-vapor formulation, a vaporizer, and a porous plug. The vaporizer may be in liquid communication with the liquid supply reservoir. The vaporizer may be configured to generate a vapor from heating a portion of the pre-vapor formulation. The porous plug may be connected to the housing and separated from the liquid supply reservoir. The porous plug may be permeable to the vapor. The porous plug may enclose a flavoring additive contacting a storage material. The flavoring additive may be configured to at least partially elute from the storage material or at least partially volatilize from the storage material if the vapor flows through the porous plug. An e-vaping device may include the cartridge.

Described here in a composition for use in a device for generating an inhalable medium, the composition comprising (i) 0-50% by weight of air-cured and/or fire-cured tobacco (ii) 40-80% by weight of flue-cured and/or sun-cured tobacco that has not been subjected to any further treatment which affects the flavor properties of tobacco, and (iii) 0-40% by weight of flue-cured and/or sun-cured tobacco that has been further treated to enhance the flavor properties of tobacco.

COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR PRODUCING TOBACCO PLANTS AND PRODUCTS HAVING ALTERED ALKALOID LEVELS

The present disclosure provides the identification of tobacco Nic1 locus. Also provided are tobacco plants with altered total alkaloid and nicotine levels and commercially acceptable leaf grade, their development via breeding or transgenic approaches, and production of tobacco products from these tobacco plants. Also provided are compositions and methods for producing tobacco plants having novel Nic1 mutations or alleles to reduce nicotine levels. Further provided are sequence polymorphisms and molecular markers for breeding tobacco with reduced nicotine or nicotine free while maintaining tobacco leaf grade and tobacco product quality.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CLASSIFYING A TOBACCO SAMPLE INTO ONE OF A PREDEFINED SET OF TASTE CATEGORIES

A method and apparatus are provided for classifying a tobacco sample of a particular tobacco type into one of a predefined set of taste categories for that tobacco type. The method comprises acquiring mass spectrometry data from the tobacco sample; identifying from the acquired mass spectrometry data a plurality of chemical components and their respective content levels within the tobacco sample; and assigning the tobacco sample to one of the predefined set of taste categories for that tobacco type based on the plurality of chemical components and their respective content levels identified within the tobacco sample, using a statistical multivariate regression model that represents a relationship between the chemical components and the taste categories.

Smoking article including flavour granules having permeable outer layer

A method for the production of a flavor granule for a smoking article comprises the steps of: a) forming an inner core by compaction of particles of herbaceous plant material; b) providing a coating suspension of colored binder particles comprising at least one colorant and at least one polymeric binder in a solvent; c) applying the coating suspension to the outer surface of the inner core to form an outer layer, wherein the coating suspension is applied to the inner core within a coating system and wherein within that coating system the vapor pressure of the solvent is greater than 5 kPa; and d) drying the outer layer to evaporate the solvent.
