ROD WITH WRAPPER COMPRISING GLUING CAVITIES
The invention relates to a cylindrical rod (10) for aerosol-generating articles comprising a rod component (12) being circumscribed by a wrapper (14). The wrapper comprises laterally opposed edge portions which overlap so as to form an overlapping zone (16). Glue (24) is applied to the overlapping edge portions of the wrapper, by which the overlapping edge portions are adhered to each other. The glue is applied in such way, so as to form one or more glue zones (22) within the overlapping zone. The wrapper further comprises a plurality of cavities (26), wherein at least a part of the cavities is provided in the one or more glue zones. The invention further relates to a method for preparing a cylindrical rod for aerosol-generating articles.

GRAVURE PRINTED BANDED WRAPPER PAPER
A smoking article includes a tobacco rod comprising a column of filler and a wrapper surrounding the column of filler. The tobacco rod has a circumferential direction, a longitudinal direction, a lit end, and a mouth end. The wrapper includes a base web having generally parallel first and second side edges extending in the longitudinal direction and two ends extending in the circumferential direction wherein the base web is disposed around the column of filler such that the first and second side edges of the base web overlap and form a seam. The base web includes at least one circumferentially extending banded region of fibrous crystalline cellulosic material thereon. The fibrous crystalline cellulosic material is in a condition of having been gravure printed on the base web as a fibrous crystalline cellulosic slurry that comprises water, crystalline cellulose, and chalk wherein the fibrous crystalline cellulosic slurry has a solids content of about 10% or less by weight of the fibrous crystalline cellulosic slurry.
AN AEROSOL-GENERATING COMPONENT FOR USE IN AN AEROSOL-GENERATING ARTICLE
An aerosol-generating component for an aerosol-generating article is provided, the aerosol-generating component including: a combustible heat source; an aerosol-forming substrate; and a heat-transfer element disposed between the combustible heat source and the aerosol-forming substrate, the heat-transfer element including a cup-shaped receptacle defining a cavity, and the aerosol-forming substrate forms a coating on at least a portion of an inner surface of the cup-shaped receptacle. An aerosol-generating article including the aerosol-generating component, and a method of manufacturing the aerosol-generating component are also provided.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR INTERMEDIATELY STORING DOUBLE-LENGTH SEMI-FINISHED PRODUCTS
The method for intermediately storing double-length substantially cylindrical semi-finished products comprises the step of providing a tipping apparatus and forming double-length substantially cylindrical semi-finished products in the tipping apparatus. The method further comprises the steps of providing a cutting device and cutting the double-length semi-finished product into single products with the cutting device and providing a packer and packing single products in the packer. The method yet further comprises the steps of transporting the double-length semi-finished products from the tipping apparatus to the cutting device and transporting the single products from the cutting device to the packer, and intermediately buffering double-length substantially cylindrical semi-finished products in a buffer arranged between the tipping apparatus and the cutting device.
AEROSOL-GENERATING ARTICLE WITH AN INSULATED HEAT SOURCE
An aerosol-generating article is provided, including an aerosol-forming substrate; a combustible heat source; and at least one layer of ceramic paper circumscribing at least a portion of a length of the combustible heat source. The at least one layer of ceramic paper includes a cellulose derivative binder and at least one of: biosoluble fibers, low biopersistent fibers, and fibers comprising at least one of: silicon dioxide, calcium oxide, and magnesium oxide. A method of forming an aerosol-generating article is also provided.
Method for Applying Register Marks to Wrapping Paper for Smoking Articles
The invention relates to a method for marking a wrapping paper for smoking articles, comprising the following steps: (A) providing a wrapping paper for smoking articles, the wrapping paper comprising pulp fibers, and (B) producing markings on the wrapping paper by means of at least one of the following steps: (B.1) removing material from the wrapping paper, (B.2) mechanically changing the wrapping paper, (B.3) treating the surface of the wrapping paper with laser radiation having an energy density y in J-m.sup.2, to which the following applies: y=kx. x is the enthalpy of combustion per volume of the wrapping paper in J-m.sup.2 m-1, and k is at least 8 m, preferably at least 7 m and especially preferably at least 6 m, and at most 1 m, preferably at most 2 m and especially preferably at most 2.5 m. Either repeating structures are produced on the wrapping paper in a step (C) such that each structure is at a fixed distance in the machine direction relative to at least one marking, or in step (A) a wrapping paper is provided which has repeating structures in the machine direction, and the markings are produced on the wrapping paper in step (B) in such a way that each marking is at a fixed distance in the machine direction relative to at least one structure.
METHOD FOR APPLYING AN ADHESIVE ON A WRAPPING BAND OF A SMOKING ARTICLE
A method for applying adhesive on a wrapping band of a smoking article includes moving the band along a feed direction, the band has a longitudinal direction of extension, opposing first and second surfaces, a first plurality of portions having a first thickness and a second plurality of portions having a second thickness greater than the first thickness, the portions of the first and second pluralities being disposed alternately along the direction of extension. A nozzle having a delivery end, and the band are moved towards/away from each other between a first position, where the delivery end and the second surface are at a first distance which is less than or equal to the second thickness, and a second position, where the delivery end and the second surface are at a second distance greater than the second thickness. An adhesive is delivered on the first surface through the nozzle.
