The present invention relates to a heating assembly (10) of an aerosol-generating device for heating aerosol-forming substrate. The heating assembly comprises a chemical heating device (200) configured to generate primary heat by an exothermic chemical reaction and to supply the primary heat to an aerosol-forming substrate for heating the substrate. The heating assembly further comprises an electrical heating device (100) configured to electrically generate and supply secondary heat to the aerosol-forming substrate for heating the substrate. The invention further relates to an aerosol-generating device including such a heating assembly. A method for generating an aerosol by heating aerosol-forming substrate comprises at least one of a sequential or a parallel performance of the following steps: generating primary heat by an exothermic chemical reaction and supplying the primary heat to the aerosol-forming substrate for heating the substrate; and electrically generating secondary heat and supplying the secondary heat to the aerosol-forming substrate for further heating the substrate.

Aerosol delivery device

The present disclosure provides an aerosol delivery device comprising a control device that is connectable with a cartridge and that can include one or more additional elements for improving one or both of visible indications of use to a user and resistance to infiltration of liquid into the control device. More particularly, the control device may include a light guide configured for transmitting to a window from a light source that is off-set from the window and a controller configured to direct a varying level of light from the light source. The control device may include one or more elements that are configured to limit infiltration of liquids into the control device and thus may be consider to be water-resistant or water-proof.

Vaporizer

An electronic cigarette or vaporizer may include a shell and a cartomizer receivable within a chamber within a portion of the shell. A basin may be included in the cartomizer to hold a vaporizable fluid, dry substance, or other vaporizable substance such as a wax. A heating element may be provided within the basin which may have a flexible non-conductive material and a flexible conductive material.

There is provided a machine for producing an aerosol-forming composition for an aerosol-generating system, the machine including a plurality of reservoirs configured to contain components of an aerosol-forming composition; a mixing mechanism in communication with the plurality of reservoirs; a controller connected to, and configured to control, the mixing mechanism; a user interface connected to the controller for a user to operate the machine, the mixing mechanism being configured to mix selective quantities of components from the plurality of reservoirs according to specified ratios to create an aerosol-forming composition; a testing mechanism including a heater assembly configured to vaporize a test sample to form an aerosol, and at least one outlet configured to deliver the aerosol to the user; and a transfer mechanism configured to deliver the test sample to the testing mechanism. There is also provided a machine and process for producing and delivering the test sample.
