Application of metal complexes in anti-tumor and anti-bacterial therapy
The present invention provides biologically active compounds and methods to obtain biologically active compounds that can be used as photosensitizers for diagnostic and therapeutic applications, particularly for PDT of cancer, infections and other hyperproliferative diseases, fluorescence diagnosis and PDT treatment of non-tumorous indications such as arthritis, inflammatory diseases, viral or bacterial infections, dermatological, ophthalmological or urological disorders. As the compounds exhibit also toxicity against targets (tumor cells, bacteria, inflammation-related cells) without light these biologically active compounds may also be used for the light-independent treatment of such indications. Preferred embodiments of the present invention consist of methods to synthesize metal or half-metal complex structures incorporating one or more substituted 2,3,5,6-tetrafluorophenyl-dipyrromethene (2,3,5,6-tetrafluorophenyldipyrrin) units. These dipyrromethenes (dipyrrins) can carry a variety of different substituents in the 4-position enabling a fine tuning of their biological or amphiphilic/hydrophilic properties. Another object of the present invention is to provide amphiphilic compounds with a higher membrane affinity and increased efficacy.
CONDUCTIVITY ENHANCEMENT OF MOFS VIA DEVELOPMENT OF MOFPOLYMER COMPOSITE MATERIAL
A method for enhancing the conductivity of MOF-5 by the development of an MOF-5 polymer composite material. The composite material incorporates a conductive polymer, preferably polyaniline, in the solvo-thermal synthesis pathway of MOF-5. The electrically conductive MOF-5 composite exhibits electric conductivity three orders of magnitude higher than that of MOF-5 while maintaining the crystallinity, robustness, and thermal stability of MOF-5.
Calcium L-lactate frameworks as naturally degradable carriers
Porous calcium lactate metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) comprise non-toxic metal ionsCa(II) and non-toxic, renewable and cheap linkerslactate and acetate. The MOFs are nontoxic and environmentally-benign, and can be used as degradable carriers.
METHIONINE-METAL CHELATE AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF
The present disclosure relates to a preparation method of a methionine-metal chelate, and the methionine-metal chelate, which is prepared by first reacting Ca(OH).sub.2 and methionine and adding metal nitrate, can be widely used as feeds and feed additives.
NOVEL HEAVY METAL ION-HEMATEIN-COMPLEXES USEFUL AS EX VIVO CONTRAST AGENT FOR A COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY SCANNING OF A BIOLOGICAL SAMPLE, EX VIVO METHOD FOR INVESTIGATING A BIOLOGICAL SAMPLE, AND USE OF THE COMPLEXES
The present invention relates to specific complexes comprising heavy metal ions having an atomic number of 23 or higher and 83 or lower (in particular Ag.sup.1+, Ba.sup.2+, Pb.sup.2+, Gd.sup.3+ and Bi.sup.3+) and one or more hematein ligand(s). In particular, the invention relates to the use of the complexes as ex vivo contrast agents for a computed tomography scanning of a biological sample. Moreover, the invention relates to specific ex vivo methods for investigating a biological sample by means of computed tomography scanning methods, wherein the method comprises staining the biological sample with a solution comprising one or more of the complex(es); or wherein the method comprises staining the biological sample with a staining solution comprising hematein, and separately contacting the biological sample with one or more staining solution(s) comprising one or more heavy metal ions having an atomic number of 23 or higher and 83 or lower (in particular Ag.sup.1+, Ba.sup.2+, Pb.sup.2+, Gd.sup.3+ and Bi.sup.3+).
FABRICATION OF METAL ORGANIC FRAMEWORK MATERIALS USING A LAYER-BY-LAYER SPIN COATING APPROACH
Embodiments describe a method of depositing an MOF, including depositing a metal solution onto a substrate, spinning the substrate sufficient to spread the metal solution, depositing an organic ligand solution onto the substrate and spinning the substrate sufficient to spread the organic ligand solution and form a MOF layer.

Synthesis of zinc-lysine complex from zinc chloride
The disclosure provides an improved synthesis for a zinc-lysine complex having the formula [Zn(C.sub.6H.sub.14N.sub.2O.sub.2).sub.2Cl].sup.+Cl.sup., in which zinc chloride is reacted with lysine, in aqueous solution. The disclosure also provides oral care and personal care compositions comprising the complex prepared by the synthesis, and methods of using these complexes and compositions.
METAL-ORGANIC FRAMEWORK PHASE AND CRYSTALLITE SHAPE CONTROL
Methods of synthesizing crystalline metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) comprising polytopic organic linkers and cations, where each linker is connected to two or more cations, are provided. In the disclosed methods, the linkers are reacted with a compound of formula M.sub.nX.sub.m, where M is cationic Be, Mg, Ca, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Zr, Nb, Mo, Ru, Rh, Pd, Cd, or Hf, X is anionic, n and m are integers. The reacting is buffered by a buffer devoid of metal coordinating functionality when the pKa of the anion is below a threshold related to the lowest pKa of the linker. The reacting is optionally not buffered when the pKa of the anion is at or above this threshold. The disclosed methods lead to product phase MOF in which crystal growth is controlled leading to control over molecular diffusion.
