A polymer, a composition, and a polysiloxane-polyimide material thereof are provided. The polymer includes a first repeat unit and a second repeat unit. The first repeat unit has a structure represented by Formula (I) and the second repeat unit has a structure represented by Formula (II) ##STR00001##

Provided is a curable silicone composition and applications thereof. The curable silicone composition has low modulus and flexibility even at high temperature of a cured product formed therefrom, and superior stress relaxation properties, so that the cured product does not readily warp or become defective when integrally molded with a base material, and has superior demolding property (e.g. mold release) of the cured product after transfer molding. A curable silicone composition for transfer molding, where (1) the maximum torque measured from a molding temperature of room temperature through 200° C. using a moving die rheometer (MDR) is less than 50 dN-m, and (2) the loss tangent (tans) expressed by the ratio of stored torque value/lost torque value is less than 0.2.

Thickening compositions, and related materials and processes

A silicone polymer is provided, modified with at least one functional group from the class of anthraquinone amide groups; anthraquinone sulfonamide groups; thioxanthone amide groups; or thioxanthone sulfone amide groups. The polymer can be combined with a hydrocarbon solvent or with supercritical carbon dioxide (CO.sub.2), and is very effective for increasing the viscosity of either medium. A process for the recovery of oil from a subterranean, oil-bearing formation is also described, using supercritical carbon dioxide modified with the functionalized silicone polymer. A process for extracting natural gas or oil from a bedrock-shale formation is also described, again using the modified silicone polymer.

Provided are a surface-modified metal oxide particle dispersion liquid and the like including surface-modified metal oxide particles that are dispersed in a dispersion medium, the surface-modified metal oxide particles being obtained by modifying surfaces of metal oxide particles to have hydrosilyl groups, hydrophobic functional groups, and silanol groups. In the surface-modified metal oxide particle dispersion liquid, a ratio of the hydrosilyl groups to the silanol groups is 5:95 or higher and 50:50 or lower.
