Impact-Resistant Stretch-Release Adhesives

Stretch-release adhesives are provided which are derived from mixtures comprising: a) a tackified styrenic block copolymer comprising: i) one or more tackifiers; and ii) one or more styrenic block copolymers; wherein the weight ratio of i) to ii) is not more than 1.0:2.0; and b) one or more (meth)acrylate polymers. In some embodiments, the weight ratio of a) to b) is between 0.4:1.0 and 5.0:1.0 and in some between 1.0:1.0 and 3.9:1.0. In some embodiments, the one or more styrenic block copolymers comprise at least 90 wt % linear block copolymers. In some embodiments, the tackifiers are miscible with rubbery blocks of the styrenic block copolymers and not miscible with the (meth)acrylate polymers. In some embodiments, the mixture is crosslinked. Tapes comprising stretch-release adhesives according to the present disclosure are also provided.

Disclosed is an acrylic adhesive, including an acrylic polymer obtained by polymerizing a mixture of about 120 parts by weight to about 250 parts by weight of acrylic monomers with about 0.1 parts by weight to about 1 parts by weight of an azo initiator, about 0.5 parts by weight to about 1 parts by weight of a filler, about 1.5 parts by weight to about 2.5 parts by weight of a crosslinking agent, and about 0.5 parts by weight to 1 parts by weight of an anti-static agent.

FUNCTIONALIZED RESIN HAVING A POLAR LINKER

Polar silane linkers are provided that attach to resins to form silane-functionalized resins. The functionalized resins can be bound to hydroxyl groups on the surface of silica particles to improve the dispersibility of the silica particles in rubber mixtures. Further disclosed are synthetic routes to provide the silane-functionalized resins, as well as various uses and end products that benefit from the unexpected properties of the silane-functionalized resins. Silane-functionalized resins impart remarkable properties on various rubber compositions, such as tires, belts, hoses, brakes, and the like. Automobile tires incorporating the silane-functionalized resins are shown to possess excellent results in balancing the properties of rolling resistance, tire wear, and wet braking performance.

The present invention provides a polymer composition for fibers or non-woven fabrics, comprising a vinyl aromatic based copolymer and 0 to 30 wt % of an olefin based polymer based on the total weight of the polymer composition. The vinyl aromatic copolymer is represented by a formula A1-B-A2, wherein block A1 and block A2 are the same or different vinyl aromatic blocks, block A1 or block A2 having 3,800 to 4,800 of a peak molecular weight, and block B is a hydrogenated conjugated diene block. A vinyl structure content of a conjugated diene monomer content in the vinyl aromatic based copolymer is from 32 wt % to 50 wt %; and a melt flow index (MFI) of the vinyl aromatic based copolymer is 20 g/10 min˜60 g/10 min (230° C., 2.16 kg). The present invention also provides the fibers or the non-woven fabrics made from the polymer composition.

The present invention provides a polymer composition for pressure sensitive adhesives or films thereof. The polymer composition comprises 20-40 parts by weight of a tackifier; and 60-80 parts by weight of a polymer, wherein the polymer and the tackifier are 100 parts by weight. The polymer comprises at least a first vinyl aromatic based copolymer formed by polymerization of vinyl aromatic monomer and conjugated diene monomer, wherein a vinyl aromatic monomer content of the first vinyl aromatic based copolymer is 16 wt %˜28 wt %, a vinyl structure content of a conjugated diene monomer content in the first vinyl aromatic based copolymer is 32 wt %˜50 wt %; and a melt flow index (MFI) of the first vinyl aromatic based copolymer is 20 g/10 min˜60 g/10 min (230° C., 2.16 kg). The present invention also provides the pressure sensitive adhesives or films made from the polymer composition.

A method for producing a composite resin particle dispersion includes: performing polymerization A by polymerizing a styrene compound and a vinyl monomer other than the styrene compound to form a styrene-based resin; performing polymerization B by polymerizing a (meth)acrylic acid ester compound in the presence of the styrene-based resin to form intermediate resin particles containing the styrene-based resin and a (meth)acrylic acid ester-based resin; and performing polymerization C by polymerizing a styrene compound and a vinyl monomer other than the styrene compound in the presence of the intermediate resin particles to form composite resin particles. The mass ratio of the styrene-based resin to the (meth)acrylic acid ester-based resin in the composite resin particles is from 80:20 to 20:80. A difference between the lowest glass transition temperature and the highest glass transition temperature in the composite resin particles is 30 C. or more.
