Coating composition, method of making a hydrophilic coating on a substrate, and medical device comprising such coating
The disclosure relates to a coating composition comprising a polymerizable compound of formula [1], wherein G is a residue of a hydrophobic hydroxy-functional oligomer, n is 1-10, each R1 independently is a residue of a C.sub.6-C.sub.20 aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, or aromatic hydrocarbon compound, and Z is a moiety having a polymerizable group; Formula [1] a hydrophilic polymer; a photo-initiator; optionally one or more further components, and a solvent. The polymerizable compound of formula [1] is typically present in an amount of 2.0-30 mass % based on total dry mass of the composition. Such coating composition can be made into a well-adhering single-layer hydrophilic coating on a surface of polymer substrates without providing a primer layer or chemically modifying the surface of the substrate. Upon wetting, the coating shows excellent lubricity and durability. In further aspects, the disclosure provides a method of applying a hydrophilic and optionally lubricious coating to an article; and an article like a medical device having on at least part of its surface a single-layer, hydrophilic and optionally lubricious coating, like a catheter, guidewire, or a delivery device for an implant.

WELL DEFINED LOW MOLECULAR WEIGHT DISPERSANT POLYMETHACRYLATES
The present invention provides, among other things, a process to produce a low molecular weight dispersant polymethacrylate polymer (“LMWDPMA”), and the LMWDPMA itself, along with the use of the LMWDPMA in a lubricating composition, as well as a method for lubricating an internal combustion engine as disclosed herein.
Universal synthetic lubricant, method and product-by-process to replace the lost sulfur lubrication when using low-sulfur diesel fuels
A diesel fuel lubricant as a replacement for sulfur lubrication in Ultra-Low and Low Sulfur Diesel fuels, the process for producing said lubricant, and the method of using said lubricant. This lubricant comprises alpha-olefins; low odor aromatic solvents; and at least one a base oil selected from the base oil group consisting of hydroisomerized high base oils and HT Severe Hydro-cracked Base Oils; as well as other ingredients. Also disclosed is a method for producing this lubricant.
Ecofriendly lubricating additives for water-based wellbore drilling fluids
Some examples of producing water-based drilling fluids including ecofriendly lubricating additives are described. A raw material oil including fatty acids with a short chain alcohol is esterified in the presence of a catalyst to produce alkyl ester products and triglycerides. The alkyl ester products are washed and heated to remove any residual water or the short chain alcohol. A first quantity of the alkyl ester products is mixed with a second quantity of a water-based wellbore drilling fluid.
LENS OIL HAVING A NARROW MOLECULAR WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION FOR INTRAOCULAR LENS DEVICES
A silicone oil having a mean molecular weight average greater than about 20,000 Daltons, with no more than about 3% to about 4% of the total silicone oil by weight being comprised of components having a molecular weight less than about 15,000 Daltons. In some embodiments, the silicone oil is used in intraocular lens devices.
Liquid compositions of overbased calcium carboxylate and process for its preparation
The present invention relates to light color, shelf-stable liquid compositions of overbased calcium carboxylate soaps and a process for their preparation. The inventive soaps are prepared by neutralizing calcium base in a mixture of two different aliphatic carboxylic acids and carbonating the mixture in the presence of a non-polar hydrocarbon solvent and a polar organic solvent as a promoter under controlled temperature conditions. The overbased calcium carboxylate soaps of the invention contain 20%-90% by weight of C.sub.7 to C.sub.25 saturated carboxylic acids, which are branched on carbon 2, and between 1% and 20% by weight short chain saturated carboxylic acids. These liquid compositions have light colors and excellent heat stability. They can be used as anticorrosion/antirust additives, and paint dryers and stabilizers, in paints, coatings and lubricants, as well as other applications.
Process for the production of end-saturated polyalfaolefin lubricants
This invention relates to novel and improved catalyst and catalysts systems for the oligomerization of the higher olefins, which produce lubricants having improved properties, such as end-saturated oligomer chains which are needless to hydrogenation process, low kinematic viscosity and/or high viscosity index, low pour point, and high flash point lubricants.
MIXED PHOSPHORUS ESTERS FOR LUBRICANT APPLICATIONS
A lubricant composition of an oil of lubricating viscosity and a phosphite ester reaction product of a monomeric phosphorous acid or an ester thereof with a first alkylene diol having two hydroxy groups in a 1,4 or 1,5 or 1,6 relationship and a second, alkyl-substituted, diol being a substituted 1,3-propylene diol, exhibits good wear and frictional performance.
HIGH VISCOSITY INDEX LUBRICANTS BY ISOALKANE ALKYLATION
An isoalkane alkylate base oil and a process to make an isoalkane alkylate base oil having a VI higher than 90, comprising: a. selecting an isoalkane feed containing at least one isoalkane and an olefin feed containing at least one linear olefin such that a combined carbon number of the isoalkane feed and the olefin feed is from 20 to 60; and b. alkylating the isoalkane feed with the olefin feed in the presence of an acidic alkylation catalyst under alkylation conditions to make the isoalkane alkylate base oil having the VI higher than 90; wherein the isoalkane alkylate base oil has a kinematic viscosity at 100° C. from 2 to 30 mm.sup.2/s, a pour point less than 0° C., and a bromine index less than 2000 mg Br/100 g.
PRODUCTION OF BASESTOCKS FROM PARAFFINIC HYDROCARBONS
A process to convert paraffinic feedstocks into renewable poly-alpha-olefins (PAO) basestocks. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, renewable feed comprising triglycerides and/or free fatty acids are hydrotreated producing an intermediate paraffin feedstock. This paraffin feedstock is thermally cracked into a mixture of olefins and paraffins comprising linear alpha olefins. The olefins are separated and the un-reacted paraffins are recycled to the thermal cracker. Light olefins preferably (C2-C6) are oligomerized with a surface deactivated zeolite producing a mixture of slightly branched oligomers comprising internal olefins. The heavier olefins (C6-C16) are oligomerized, preferably with a BF3 catalyst and co-catalyst to produce PAO products. The oligomerized products can be hydrotreated and distilled together or separate to produce finished products that include naphtha, distillate, solvents, and PAO lube basestocks.
