Microbial oils with lowered pour points, dielectric fluids produced therefrom, and related methods
Methods and compositions for the production of dielectric fluids from lipids produced by microorganisms are provided, including oil-bearing microorganisms and methods of low cost cultivation of such microorganisms. Microalgal cells containing exogenous genes encoding, for example, a sucrose transporter, a sucrose invertase, a fructokinase, a polysaccharide-degrading enzyme, a lipid pathway modification enzyme, a fatty acyl-ACP thioesterase, a desaturase, a fatty acyl-CoA/aldehyde reductase, and/or an acyl carrier protein are useful in manufacturing dielectric fluids.
Oil degumming systems
A system and method for degumming oil is used to increase oil yield and reduce impurities such as phosphorus. An oil feedstock, water and enzyme mixture is passed through a high shear mixing device prior to being fed to an agitated reactor equipped with a recirculation system. The recirculation system includes a second high shear mixing device that further mixes the oil mixture in the reactor during processing. The reacted mixture is discharged from the reactor to a downstream post-reaction system for separating the degummed oil from the reacted mixture. The separation step can be used to remove the phosphatides and other impurities from the reacted oil to form a purified oil product.
DEVICE FOR ELECTRICALLY PROCESSING A FATTY SUBSTANCE OF PLANT ORIGIN
The present invention relates to a device for electrically processing a fatty substance of plant origin, comprising a series of electrodes (1 and 2) and an enclosure (4), said device being characterised in that the enclosure (4) is provided with at least one electrical connector (5) placed on the outer surface (40) of the enclosure (4), a series of electrical connections for connecting each electrode of said series of electrodes to said electrical connector (5), with the current flow distances of the electrical connections being equal in relation to each other, and a first inlet (6) and a first outlet (7) for the fatty substance, and in that said device comprises a filter (12) having an inlet (13) in fluidic connection with said first fatty-substance outlet (7) of the enclosure (4) and an output (14) in fluidic connection with said first fatty-substance inlet (6) of the enclosure (4).
PROCESSES FOR PRODUCING HYDROCARBON PRODUCTS
The present invention relates to processes for producing industrial products such as hydrocarbon products from non-polar lipids in a vegetative plant part. Preferred industrial products include alkyl esters which may be blended with petroleum based fuels.
PURIFICATION OF FEEDSTOCK BY HEAT TREATMENT
Present invention relates to a novel process for purification of feedstock for further use as a source of fuel or chemicals.
PURIFICATION OF FEEDSTOCK BY HEAT TREATMENT
Present invention relates to a novel process for purification of feedstock for further use as a source of fuel or chemicals.
METHODS, DEVICES, AND SYSTEMS FOR EXTRACTION OF OILS FROM PLANT MATTER
The present disclosure relates to methods, systems, and devices for efficiently extracting high quality oils and distillates, such as essential oils and hydrosols, from organic matter, such as plant matters. In some embodiments, organic matter comprises active chemical elements, which are used for therapeutic, medicinal, culinary, and industrial purposes.
Solventless extraction process
The present invention provides a method for extracting lipids from microorganisms without using organic solvent as an extraction solvent. In particular, the present invention provides a method for extracting lipids from microorganisms by lysing cells and removing water soluble compound and/or materials by washing the lysed cell mixtures with aqueous washing solutions until a substantially non-emulsified lipid is obtained.
Enzymatic degumming
The present invention relates to a method for treating vegetable oils and/or animal fats. The method comprises adjusting temperature, treatment with acid, adjusting pH, contacting the aqueous mixture with enzyme, crystallization of high melting glycerides and separation.
Systems and methods for closed loop solvent extraction and purification
Provided herein are systems and methods for the facile extraction and purification of oils from plant material, including cannabis and hemp. The systems and methods herein are versatile, and may utilize a wide range of solvents to extract oils from a variety of plant-based material. Further, the provided systems and methods are closed loop, reducing the loss solvent and decreasing the risk of safety concerns such as human exposure to solvent chemicals or explosion of volatiles. In some embodiments, the systems and methods remove impurities from the extracted oils, for example waxes or other precipitates, and provide a higher purity and higher quality extract.
