Polymerized oils and methods of manufacturing the same
Described herein is a polymerized biorenewable, previously modified, or functionalized oil, comprising a polymeric distribution having about 2 to about 80 wt % oligomer content, a polydispersity index ranging from about 1.30 to about 2.20, and sulfur content ranging from 0.001 wt % to about 8 wt %. Methods of manufacturing the polymerized oil as well as its incorporation into asphalt paving, roofing, and coating applications are also described.
Method for reducing amount of dissolved impurities in a renewable feedstock
The present invention relates to a method for reducing an amount of dissolved impurities in an oxygen containing renewable feedstock, the dissolved impurities being selected from impurities comprising phosphorus and impurities comprising at least one metal. The method comprises obtaining a net elementary charge of a first feedstock; mixing the first feedstock with an elementary charge balancing component to obtain the feedstock to be treated, whereby the feedstock to be treated has a net elementary charge which is closer to zero net elementary charge than the net elementary charge of the first feedstock; and subjecting the feedstock to be treated to a heat treatment at a temperature of 180-400 C. in order to precipitate compounds containing said phosphorus and said at least one metal.
Method of Separating Mannosylerythritol Lipids
A method of fractionating a mannosylerythritol lipids (MELs) containing composition by loading the composition onto an adsorbing support, separating a fraction which is enriched in MELs from the support using supercritical carbon dioxide, and optionally separating one or more further fractions enriched in MELs from the support using supercritical carbon dioxide and an optional co-solvent. The MELs can be obtained at high concentration by using only green solvents.
PROCESS FOR PURIFYING BIODIESEL
The present invention describes a process for purifying biodiesel without using a filter aid, in which purification of the biodiesel takes place by a sequence of washing operations after the reaction section, with stirring that is sufficiently vigorous to assist in the transformation of the molecules of esterified steryl glycosides, in order to convert them to a chemical form that can be removed by the process.
Method for refining lipid phases, and use
The invention relates to a method for gently eliminating odorous substances and coloring agents from lipid phases. Said method is easy and inexpensive to carry out and and can be employed for purifying lipid phases of various origins.
Method for extracting lipid from wet biomass
A method for extracting lipid from wet biomass includes a step in which a wet biomass and a first solvent are mixed to prepare a mixture. The method continues with a step in which said mixture is separated to obtain a solution containing said first solvent and a concentrated biomass. The method continues with a step in which a liquefied gas is added into said concentrated biomass subjected to mechanical dispersion means to obtain lipid.
ENZYMES AND METHODS FOR PRODUCING OMEGA-3 FATTY ACIDS
The present invention relates generally to the field of recombinant fatty acid synthesis, particularly in transgenic plants. The application describes genes involved in fatty acid synthesis and provides methods and vectors for the manipulation of fatty acid composition of plant oils. In particular, the invention provides constructs for achieving the integration of multiple heterologous genes involved in fatty acid synthesis into the plant genome, such that the resulting plants produce altered levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids. Also described are methods for enhancing the expression of fatty acid biosynthesis enzymes by co-expressing a silencing suppressor within the plant storage organ.
FAT AND/OR OIL COMPOSITION FOR HEAT COOKING AND METHOD OF PREPARING SAME, AND METHOD OF PREVENTING DETERIORATION OF FAT AND/OR OIL FOR HEAT COOKING CAUSED BY HEATING
A fat and/or oil composition for heat cooking and a method of preparing the same are provided. The fat and/or oil composition includes: a fat and/or oil; a fatty acid monoglyceride; and an alkali metal, wherein a content of the fatty acid monoglyceride is from 0.01 to 1.0 mass %, and a content of the alkali metal is from 0.1 to 5.0 mass ppm. Also provided is a method of preventing deterioration of a fat and/or oil for heat cooking that is caused by heating, the method including: adding, to the fat and/or oil for heat cooking, a fatty acid monoglyceride and an ingredient containing an alkali metal to yield a content of the fatty acid monoglyceride of from 0.01 to 1.0 mass % and a content of the alkali metal of from 0.1 to 5.0 mass ppm in the fat and/or oil.
Systems and methods for closed loop solvent extraction and purification
Provided herein are systems and methods for the facile extraction and purification of oils from plant material, including cannabis and hemp. The systems and methods herein are versatile, and may utilize a wide range of solvents to extract oils from a variety of plant-based material. Further, the provided systems and methods are closed loop, reducing the loss solvent and decreasing the risk of safety concerns such as human exposure to solvent chemicals or explosion of volatiles. In some embodiments, the systems and methods remove impurities from the extracted oils, for example waxes or other precipitates, and provide a higher purity and higher quality extract.
